Have used this first on my F 150 then installed on my F 250. Works fine for Macadam and stone. Only issue is dry Macadam causes rubber to vibrate snow blade excessively. Just go slower till you get to more snow or put in raised position. Just would like tell tail markers to be longer. Wish I would have bought this plow years ago. So much better than plowing with 4-wheeler. A second plus is using hitch to haul bicycles on front of truck.

Can you back drag plow with the winch installed
@SNOWSPORTSnowPlows11 ай бұрын
The motion activated design allows the SNOWSPORT to tilt backwards, the plow will glide over the surface instead of back dragging. Even with a winch installed you won't get back drag.

I'll be on season 2 this year with my plow. Two suggestions: 1. Be sure to check sheer bolts frequently after the first few uses. They WILL break off if NOT adjusted to final tolerance. I knew of this possibility, so I checked to be sure they didn't break. I only lost the head on ONE. 2.Make ABSOLUTELY SURE your mount to the vehicle's frame is SECURE. The bolts WILL strip out with frequent use & detatch the mount assembly from the vehicle's frame. I had my truck's frame retapped & the mount welded to keep it from happening again. The mount assembly, receiver & blade unit installs & uninstalls easily. My final bit of advice is to chain the blade unit & receiver guides to the mount on your frame because SOME dipstick rednecks think the plow is "easy pickin's tuh rip off'n yuh". The dumbasses DIDN'T get mine...but were bugged I chained it on. Overall: These are really nice plows. Mounting my winch as a plow lift soon.

My plow came today. Very fast service. Ordered Thursday, came the following Monday. Thanks. I found the written directions invaluable. My one bit of advice to anybody buying this unit is: READ THEM! I skipped a step and had to backtrack a bit. Probably cost me 10 minutes. Working alone, it took me about two hours (if possible, follow Snowsport's advice and have a helper) including collecting all the tools. Everything fit together perfectly and all the parts were there. I totally get why the assembler drills the holes after the parts are bolted together. It removes any difficulty fitting the parts together. I think the design is brilliant. It is great to have a well built product that is so easy on the budget. Now I need some snow...

Good morning. For the last year my Snowsport winch seems to have trouble lifting the blade up. It gets "stuck" in down pressure mode and none of the switches (cab or motor head) will raise the blade. I have to jam it into a snow bank and then it will work. The plow, without this winch is nearly useless and I need this thing to work reliably.

Don't buy this one. There's a better version of it with side skids on it, so when it tips back, it will be lifted up off the ground a little. That way you don't pull back snow.

Didn't need to remove the front valance. . That's just ugly! . . . Just cut a nice square hole in it for the receiver to fit through. And then, with a grinder, notch out the steel on eitther side of the hitch so it doesn't hit valance. I have put 4 of these on Cherokee XJs, and they all look like it belongs there.

It may be a “toy”, but I’ve had an HD for 18 years and it works just fine for what it is. Use it wisely and it does a great job at moving snow. I just plowed 18” last night and this morning. We have a 900’ driveway, her father has 650’ and I have a commercial,building with parking for 22 cars. All clear. Sure, it’s not a “real” plow, it does takes longer to move snow and doesn’t scrape all the way down to the blacktop in one pass, but it does get the job done. I wouldn’t have one if I ran a commercial snow removal company, but as a homeowner and business property owner, it’s way better than hiring out snow removal. I bought it many years ago because I has a Jeep Grand Cherokee which was unibody construction and nobody made a plow for it. I found SnowSport online and took the chance in buying one. 18 years later, its been used on numerous different vehicles, it’s still here and working fine. How many “real” plows are still around and working that can say that? I did add a 3/8” x 4” mild steel cutting edge to mine. It adds weight and works better than it did with the rubber edge. No more chatter. I’ve also loaned it out to several friends who went out and purchased them right afterwards. Quite the testimonial.

After 9 winters plowing with my 8' HD blade, I can now ease up on my back, before I hit 60. I was wondering when SnowSport was going to make their own version of the winch, Utoobers were seeing. Makes me proud being born and raised in ND, that this little ND company has made this reliable home plow, that doesn't filet my grass, and sprinkler heads. Looking forward to using it with the down pressure kit, this winter.
@M3hammerdown4 жыл бұрын
I stumbled across this on my own. Oddly, I didn't get the email all the other former customers got advertising the new winch. Tried it for the first time today. Works great. Downpressure is a big bonus with this setup. I had the old hold down strap system but it was not effective for long unless everything was on level ground. Go up an incline or anything that would pressure the blade upward and the strap loosened or it would break. I put eyelet bolts through the lowest bolt hole in my side plates on the rubber ends (facing inward) and ratchet straps to my front tow hooks from the eyelets. Keeps the blade fro collapsing forward, which is unnecessary now with the winch. Now I can backdrag thanks to the downforce also! Simple. Snowsport you should sell this simple mod next. Unfortunately, I called Snowsport and they couldn't give me any specs or rating for this unlabeled winch whatsoever and the warranty is so so. Its a clean factory looking setup. Probably could do it yourself for a third of the price but you wouldn't get the downpressure. Another con..... one plug for the plow has a nice rubber protector for when its not in use. The smaller one doesn't. I found that to be an unusual oversight. I tape mine for corrosion protection when unplugged.
@tomleblanc25224 жыл бұрын
Since the Snowsport hd has 4 hollow chambers I put one of the end pieces on and then filled 2 of the 4 chambers with sand and then I put the other rubber end piece on. Makes the plow heavier and much more effective. LOVE IT!!!
@M3hammerdown4 жыл бұрын
Thats a cool idea. But doesn't seem as necessary to make it heavier/harder on the truck and more difficult to move around when not in use now that the down force feature is available. I contacted Snowsport and unfortunately they could not tell me the rating of the winch or the amount of down force the straps can handle. That is information they should definitely be able to provide.
