Throughout the entirety of the Xbox One’s life, I always hated the UI. Say what you want about the original 2013 iteration, at least it had a consistent aesthetic and quality. With each update, it felt like particular areas of the UI received more attention while others were left to rot, causing a disparity in quality and uniformity. Today, some areas of the Series X dashboard still use the same design elements from all the way back in 2017. The whole experience has felt botched together for a long, long time. The best thing Microsoft can do is start from scratch and make something that’s not only easy to navigate, but also pleasant to interface with. Give us nice little animations, unique sounds and interesting graphical elements again rather than the corporate, Windows aesthetic.
