Sorry, I am from Airdrie and the best way to enjoy peel park is to sit with a fish supper and leave the birds alone. I adopted kirkintilloch during the pandemic and have visited ever since. Have a look at Airdrie and consider yourself fortunate you live there

Port not a bad wee town , was born there same as my wife , moved away to find work in the early 80s to Luton in England OK for working there but didn't like it one bit moved back to Scotland after nine year's then to Highlands to inverness in early 90s happy to say now we're back and settled in our own wee town off port glasgow, where the people are always friendly and welcoming wouldn't want to be eanyware els now , little towns got lot's going for it nowadays, with beautiful views off the Clyde, don't know what you've got till you've been away how lucky we are to liv here, in my early 60s now and here to stay 🌄

I received as a Christmas present 2 years ago a drone in which my intention was to take pictures of Kirkintilloch, to date its still in its box. Reading the comments below I remember getting the train with my ma and da from Kirkintilloch (eastside) that stopped at Back O Loch, until we could join the main line to Glasgow. And talking of how Kirkie has grown, At the General election in 1983 we covered, in one night, to every home in Kirkintilloch and Lenzie an election address from Margaret Bain. Ah Happy days, Love the vids.

I've owned a DJI mini 2 for almost three years ago and I've yet to conquer the fear of flying too far or crashing it! I'm wondering if that's a common experience for drone users and how they overcome it?
@droningonandonandon
@droningonandonandon 2 ай бұрын
I suppose it is but the advice i'd give is to go to a large park or open field and fly on beginners settings before trying anything else. Get to know the controls and get yourself accustomed to the drone code etc. Keep the drone at all times within visual line of sight and dont go too high and always remember the return to home button if it gets a bit scary
@grahamfordyce2399

Good advice thanks. I run into trouble though when I look from the console to the drone and back again until I reach the stage where I can't find the drone in the sky and panic sets in! I suppose it's just a matter of practice and patience.@@droningonandonandon

Thank you. This video brought a lot of memories back. From my teenage dating days waiting at the bus stop next to the library for two hours on a Sunday night to get home to the Port, then 30 years later returning home to Scotland and visiting my Mum, now living In a lovely apartment in Kilmacolm. Oh and being told that I have lost my Scottish twang from the fish and chip guy at the end of the road.

There's a St Johns primary School just off Mary Street/Highholm st its been there since around 1930/31. The original St Johns school was possibly what ended up as the St Johns church halls on Balfour street at the bottom of Highholm Avenue avenue. The site is now a more modern St Johns church hall its been there since the mid 1980s as far as I can remember. Thank you so much for your kind comments, always appreciated.

It's a shame that you gave your footage the title Kirkintilloch because you haven't included half of the town. Anyone who doesn't know the town will think that's all there is to it. You haven't done our town justice
@droningonandonandon
@droningonandonandon 5 ай бұрын
Im sorry you arent happy with the video title. It was a general fly over and one of the first ones using that particular drone. I have a lot more Kirkintilloch videos showing pretty much all of the town. When making the videos, I have to be careful of two things. Distance from myself and the drone (legally it has to be within line of sight at all times) and secondly the length of the video. You're 100% correct though that this video doesnt do the town justice hence the reason i've got a number of videos on the channel showing other parts of the great town in Central Scotland. I'd love it if you had a look and let me know what you think. Critique is always welcome as im always learning and a lot of the Kirkie videos were the first ones I'd made,. Thank you for your comment though I really do appreciate you taking time to let me know your feelings.

Great video!. I lived on a street called “Clyde Street”, which, had it still been there, would’ve been clearly in the video. I remember a pane from our kitchen window broke when they blew up the nine arches!. I was born, and grew up in the Glen area, many great memories!. Thanks!.

Thanks so much for your comment. I lived in Chapelton as a child and although I was there at the time of the 9 arches being blown up by the army, I was too young to remember it. It is a shame that Clyde St and the Glen area of the past ended up being swallowed up by the main road and now whats left of it exists as a decent but not very interesting shopping outlet on the fringe of the town centre. I remember the Glen as a child, specifically a cafe of some sort that my parents would take me too when I was very young. Also the Lithgows social club and the chaos when the horns would go so.
