This is why I love gear 5, it's not your typical shonen power up, like Goku when he becomes super Saiyan for example, it's always through anger, but Luffy Is different, he laughs and play around with his opponents, you don't often see that in a lot of anime's because it would break the tension, but somehow it works with Luffy, because that's who he is, he's goofy and playful, he's very unique 😂😂😂

This is not a spoiler really so let me explain. Kaido’s fruit is confusingly labeled as fish-fish fruit model: azure dragon Its a reference to a folk tale where a fish swims up a waterfall and turns into a dragon. So BM is saying she gave Kaido his fruit so he owes her. Also zoans in general give you more durability and faster regeneration, so thats probably how it saved him.
