You're right, Abra (per your Instagram DM), you are fortunate enough as a European to hop from country to country without much fuss or expense. Lucky you! I have a friend in Oslo who travels often to other European destinations just because she can! As an Ohioan, if I want to see any part of Europe I must spend thousands of dollars. (Which is why I've never been to Europe.) lol But to be near water is so comforting to me! That's why I visit Lake Erie so often, just to sit (or stand) by the water and be calmed by the gently lapping waves....

Hi ✨! Yep, we are very lucky to have so many countries and cities we can go to for quite cheap, I try not to take it for granted. The lake you are describing sounds lovely, it makes me want to be near water again ^. There are a few places I’d love to visit in America as well and I will forever be in love with California ✨. Such a cozy apartment! I love that she separated her living space from her sleeping space with a windowed wall. This way the apartment seemed to be larger than it was while still maintaining the privacy of the bedroom . Oh and all the sun streaming in was the cherry on top!

Yes, honestly Fanny’s home felt super intentional ! Funny you should mention the sun because it had been raining most of that day, we were lucky to have some sun while we were filming ✨!!

You know, when brutalism was first introduced, it was definitely polarising. The use of raw materials, etc is why the style is called brutalism and it introduced a whole conversation on it. One of the argument I remember from around that time is the fact that the goal was to modify material as little as possible, to keep things organic and as close to their natural state as possible. 🤔 It’s not doing it for me (c’est past mon truc) the styling is too random, looks like students live there. It’s not nicely layered but the building itself is nice I’d love to have those floors and walls.

Greetings 🌱! First of all, thank you for sharing your opinion. I’m glad you liked the Haussmannian part of her apartment :). I think Sya’s space follows a very specific method and type of styling. Since she likes modularity, at any given time she can move her furniture and transform her space (even as we filmed her home definitely looked different!). I really enjoyed seeing how lively and unique her home is. It made me reflect on how transformational homes can be. From your comment I gather you may enjoy a more traditional layering and maybe a more traditional style ? In any case, thank you for your input ✨!

Hi! Brutalism is an architectural style that promotes functional and bare materials over design. Sya used this as an inspiration for a lot of the furniture she bought as well as how she decorated her apartment. In her episode I have crafted a longer explanation about the style and how it is applied in her space :).
