If teen is HS Jr at one point do we set up FSA ID (do we each set up one or share one?) and if we create brand new emails before creating FSA ID will that create any issue if it differs from email used for personal email, school email or the newest one we created to use for college board log in bc all other emails have thousands to scout through 😮 awesome video thank you!

Your FAFSA may need time to process first, if you still feel like you're not seeing anything after sometime you should reach out to your financial aid office & clarify any concerns.

Go to a community college to save money on your associate degree as well can help avoid having to get student loans at all since many of commmunity colleges offer programs that make it little to no cost to go to it or even completely free.

I am a parent contributor on the FAFSA Form - Married and filed joint taxes. I completed all of the sections required and it is now asking for signature and to "submit" on behalf of the child. However, my husband has not added his part as contributor. Is he not required to complete a section of the form as well? Just curious because I did not add his saving/checking info.

if the parent and stepparent still married but live in 2 separate states due to employment, will the contributor be just the parent who lives with the child?

The contributor will be the parent who is the one who provides the most financial support, so if that is the case with the parent who lives with the student then yes!

What happens to people who lose their financial aid?
@Edvisors
@Edvisors 6 ай бұрын
It depends why the student lost their financial aid. One of the most common reasons is a loss of financial aid because the student did not meet the school’s Satisfactory Academic Progress, SAP, requirements. That student would need to work with the school to see if they can regain eligibility. This usually involves filing a successful SAP appeal. If there is a concern you have, please don’t hesitate to send your question through: www.edvisors.com/ask/ask-the-edvisor/

Wait, stop, back up a bit... "what will the college grade level of the student be", sorry maybe it is because English isn't my native language and I wasn't born and raised here but what exactly does that mean? I initially thought it meant the grade level already finished by the student when starting this year... but now it looks like it asks for the grade level one WILL be starting in 24/25?

Hey there! Just stumbled upon your video and I must say, it's incredibly insightful. Your breakdown provided valuable clarity, and I've not only liked the video but also subscribed to your channel. Keep up the fantastic work!

so many issues - wont download our IRS numbers, wont let us complete information, and unable to click and sign any portion of it. Accessed many times of day and still the same problems. The Help line literally says "good bye" and disconnects you after you do all the prompts.

While the issues get worked out, it's best to keep trying until you're able to complete. The U.S. Department of Education announced that they won't be processing or sending the information to schools until March 2024 -- meaning you do have some time to get through the application.

I am frustrated. Almost a week ago, on January 3, I (parent) submitted the new 2024-25 form (now it shows “In Review”). I completed all prompted questions. I did my part (myself, mother), and my daughter (student) did as well); both using our own FAFSA IDs. However, some things are not quite right. Contributors: Both parents are contributors; we are a marriage filing together. At some point, I was prompted to enter my husband’s information. However, he never got an email to complete his part. (Well, that is what the instructions indicated, that in this new form, every contributor will have to complete their part.) Financials / Financial Support: I responded to several questions about our finances (stocks, savings, securities, etc.). But I was never asked to enter our taxes, or I wasn’t prompted to link our information with the IRS, as it was during the past years. So, I was asked for everything except my taxes. How can it be? Because this is so confusing, I would like to review and edit this 2024-25 form, but I am unable to do it. We tried from my FAFSA profile (parent contributor), and from my daughter’s FAFSA profile (student), but it wasn’t possible.

There are far less questions this year. The consent to have your information transferred by the IRS is at the beginning of the application, not in the middle like years past. Your FAFSA student can log into their account to track their FAFSA application to see if the submission is complete. Processing and information send to the schools has been delayed until March.

For this years FAFSA even if your parents don't have a SSN they will still be able to proceed to help complete the FAFSA and they will be able to create an FSA ID without an SSN to complete the 2024-2025 FAFSA. They will just need a FSA ID which can be created at studentaid.gov/

QUESTION : One of the NEW parts is being a "CONTRIBUTOR" - I heard if so, then each "contributor" is required to have a FAFSA ID , which requires them to apply for this BEFORE filling out the FAFSA so you have it at hand.. In previous yrs, myself , the MOM was the only one who needed the FAFSA Id (never my husband, we are married, we file Jointly on our Tax returns). WIll my husband NOW need a FAFSA Id also , or if Married, still only (1) parent , as our Taxes are filed Jointly every year?
@Edvisors
@Edvisors Жыл бұрын
Yes, FAFSA Contributor is new this year. If you filed a joint return with your husband, you will not need him to create an FSA ID to help submit your application. Remember, the 2024-2025 FAFSA is being released as a soft launch, and there have been some reported issues with the process. Hopefully it's a smooth process for you!

So there is an option to automatically transfer your federal tax information to make the form easier however, there are still areas where you need to manually enter it. Again the Federal Government making more work for nothing.
@antonstockl5776

that isn't an option that is a requirement if you want to apply for your kiddo to get anything going forward. choice has been taken out of this just like all your other freedoms by the current folks running us all into a ditch at full speed.
@Edvisors
@Edvisors Жыл бұрын
The 2024-2025 FAFSA will require you to provide consent to transfer your tax information from the IRS. Because of that, you won't have the option to manually enter and bypass the transfer. There are still a few questions regarding untaxed income, and assets (if applicable).
