For a while I didn't like the secondary follow on "Hosanna" after the climax. I experienced it as a let down. But now it strikes me as the imperfect echo from Earth of the preceding climactic "Hosanna" from Heaven, and I like it much more.

I am most associated with this version of O Fortuna. I don't know why, but I associate this version with many TV appearances.

Something to notice: right around the 3:07 mark, a nearby church's bell began to toll. It was in the key of the piece, so it remains in the recording.

I'm afraid the title should be Robert Shaw Chamber Singers, not Robert Shaw.

By far, the best digital recording of 'Kyrie'. Angelic as it was intended. Beautiful piece! Thanks for uploading this.

Robert Shaw was America's finest choral conductor of his era, may he RIP. And thank you again for "Messiah" with the ASO and Chorus and UNC Carolina Choir, December, 1978.

I was a tenor/baritone and had the great privilege of singing in this production. It was an awesome experience that I will never forget! Robert Shaw was a maestro for both vocal and instrumental compositions, but combined together he was the epitome of an artist.

That was Deborah Workman’s first recording as she joined the Atlanta Symphony in 1980. I’m not sure who else joined the Atlanta Symphony in 1980. Jon Dlouhy came a year earlier

*What wondrous love is this,* *O my soul, O my soul!* *What wondrous love is this,* *O my soul!* *What wondrous love is this* *that caused the Lord of bliss* *To bear the dreadful curse* *for my soul, for my soul,* *To bear the dreadful curse for my soul.* *When I was sinking down,* *sinking down, sinking down,* *When I was sinking down, sinking down,* *When I was sinking down* *beneath Gods righteous frown,* *Christ laid aside His crown* *for my soul, for my soul,* *Christ laid aside His crown for my soul.* To God and to the Lamb, I will sing, I will sing; To God and to the Lamb I will sing. To God and to the Lamb Who is the great I Am; While millions join the theme, I will sing, I will sing; While millions join the theme, I will sing. And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on; And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing on. And when from death I’m free, I’ll sing and joyful be, And through eternity I’ll sing on, I’ll sing on, And through eternity I’ll sing on.
