Haha.. thanks and congratulations! That's exciting news. We installed 1200 AH Lithium batteries. In the tropics we tend to run the a/c a lot and that uses a lot of juice. Kaz says if don't run a/c 600 should be ok and 900 would be plenty.

Thank you very much for sharing this video. It is super helpful as we looked at between a Lagoon 42 or Nautitech 46 open. Being a bit curious. Is the boat was a 2017 ? If so in this two year period was it sailed by the owner or chartering Cie ? How much nautical miles the boat sail. In which area ?

Why was the one selling it? It is so new. Also can I say what you paid? I don't think those boats are easy to find used.

Good two part video of the survey and first round of ‘boat jobs.’ I hope you have addressed the port sail drive bearings and the starboard outer seal. The surveyor sounded a little too blasé about those issues. Everything I’ve read about sail drives is you have to stay on top of them. Not unlike the I/O drive on my little sport boat. I’m interested in your experiences as the Nautitech 46 Open is on my shortlist, Also it appears your were in Grenada at the same time as Tulsa’s Endless Summer. Did you cross paths with Billy and Sierra?
@SailingXanadu4 жыл бұрын
Hi Robert, thanks for looking out for us. Yes, we have addressed ALL of the issues Neil, our surveyor, discovered during his assessment of the vessel (on and off camera). Neil took the time to go through all of his findings with us, answer questions and document them in a lengthy report. Have a look at the comments section in our last video. I just answered a question about some problems solved and briefly provided some insight as to why we love our Nautitech so much. Yeah, lots of people in the Caribbean take shelter in Grenada during the hurricane season. I saw Sierra zip by on her dingy once with her pup in tow. Of course, Wesley was barking away trying to say hi! 😁. Hope to meet them down the road.. or should I say, down the sea... Have a wonderful day!

Sailing Xanadu glad you like your boat! They are handsome cats. I’m following you guys for Nautitech 46, Sailing Sisu for the Leopard 45, Let’s Dance for the F-P Elba 45 (later this year) and Ruby Rose for whichever cat they buy. Technically I’m following La Vagabonde for the Outremer 45, but not seriously considering it. Who out there is sailing a late model Lagoon 42/46?

Hey! What was the bad Airbnb in Punta Uva? Headed there soon...
@SailingXanadu4 жыл бұрын
Hi Jodee, the place that we absolutely loved is Casa Alexander. It was surrounded by nature and it had a pool. It was also very close to Punta Uva.. the "bad airbnb" I really don't want to name since the airbnb host was extremely helpful and accommodated moving our reservation so I don't want to spoil biz for her. Besides, the place wasn't horrible. It was clean and spacious etc., it just wasn't a good fit for us. Have a wonderful time in Punta Uva, its so beautiful there. Pura Vida 😎✌🏼Liza

Found you guys when researching the Nautitech 46 open and have binged thru a few episodes. OF COURSE, I had to subscribe and ring the bell !!! I thought I would not be able to change my fave catamarans Lagoon and Leopard with Privilege as the dream one, yet the Nautitech is very appealing!! I would like to hear some of your thoughts as everybody is so concerned about the aft helms and our previous 36' monohull (or any for that matter that are not center cockpit) are aft transoms, and when it rained, I put on my foul weather gear and got wet. Here one can go inside on autopilot.
@SailingXanadu4 жыл бұрын
Hello Richard :) I hope you found some info useful. We don't mind the open helm stations at all and appreciate the extra space in the cockpit. We'll likely have a custom top or Bimini made at some point (mostly because of the beating sun...) but you are correct if the weather is nasty we can hit autopilot and take cover inside. It's a win win
@no_name-o2n4 жыл бұрын
@@SailingXanadu Can you say something about the overall quality of the Nautitech 46, are you happy? The 46 is on my shortlist of cats and would like to hear a real review of a real owner with all its pro and cons. How does it sail to the wind? 40degree possible? In one of your videos you had problems with the leaking hatches which is a concern on such a young boat.
@SailingXanadu4 жыл бұрын
@@no_name-o2n For us the decision to go with the Nautitech 46 open was easy because it had all the bells and whistle’s we were looking for in a live-aboard boat. The finishes are lovely, the space in the cockpit is wonderful, and we have an abundance of storage space. Liza loves the galley which we will switch from propane to electric soon. There are a few other modifications we are considering like covering the helm station since its so exposed to the elements (wind, rain & sun), however, while underway you can set the autopilot, and sit in the saloon very comfortably. While in the saloon, you can sit at the nav station and have complete visibility of the sails from the large ceiling windows and 360 degree views through the huge windows. Which brings me to the leaky ceiling window beds. This was an issue for us and from our understanding it will happen if the wrong sealant is used. Not all of the ceiling window beds leaked but 2 out of 3 did. We resealed with Sica and all is well - not a deal breaker. Another modification we are considering is adding another engine throttle to the port side helm station as only the starboard side has it in our boat. We did 50-60 degree sailing and it was great and fast. Have not sailed 40 degrees into the wind. Overall we are very happy with the performance and structure of our live-aboard home. Best of luck to you on your decision, Guy!

Hi guys, Great vids thanks for sharing! My wife and I plan to give it all up and buy a catamaran in the next 2-3yrs. We are also interested in Nautitech. Do you think you could put a video together detailing your purchasing experience? ie, how you chose your broker, surveyor, and how did you find your catamaran, etc. Out of all the production catamarans, why did you choose the Nautitech 46? Any advice would be much appreciated! By the way, how are the sailing lessons going? All the best, Steve...
@SailingXanadu5 жыл бұрын
We spent about a year and a half watching youtube videos, researching different cats and going to boat shows, where we met our broker Monte Cottrell which we worked with for over a year. I must say that there is no perfect catamaran out there, but for us what was important was the living space. Second, this boat is built very well, she is light and fast. We aren’t experts but we felt that the boat we chose suited our needs the best. Our surveyor was recommended to us but we also researched him on our own. We found this catamaran online on yachting world but interestingly enough we were on this same boat at the Annapolis boat show in October 2018 and she left quite the impression then. Eventually, this was the boat that became ours. More videos to come in the future about that process. All the best to you. Liza and Kaz
