this series was actually green lit but Henry got a call from Tim Burton asking him to do Nightmare, so he left it behind

Awesome to watch and discover where the voice samples from some of the interludes in the Residents Demons Dance Alone album come from. “Over here Bob, times up for now”

The obvious question is what even would the show have been like?? I can see it as a bunch of 5 minute cartoons like Aeon Flux

Somehow in all the times I've watched this I missed that the members of Osseus Labyrint were the main cast. RIP Hannah :,(

This short never looked better! I remember what some of the original elements looked like as Henry shot the flat animation on my camera. Besides the digital color correction, these new dust & scratch removal programs make a huge difference!

*Almost an avant-garde retelling of the book **_Flatland_** by Edwin Abbott Abbott.* Except done with photographic citizens... ODD but LOVELY! The Residents add the just the right soundtrack for this clip! .............Thanks for posting! 📷 ⌚- ᵂᴬᵀᶜᴴ ᵒᵘᵗ

So let me try and understand this show. This was going to be a series about a man who travels to different dimensions to help other people out, while back at home his conjoined twin sisters harass him.
@elwoodjacobs43534 жыл бұрын
Pretty much. Also, in his dimension, his back is malformed, which is why his posture is so awkward, but in the other dimensions, from what I gather, he can stand up straight & walk regularly.

From IMDb: "Nightmarish pilot about Robert Potemkin, a man with deformed back, who lives in the attic of his family's house. One night, his siamese sisters plan a prank on him, but sentient lizards send him to a parallel world to save photo-people."

Finally!!!! Thank you Heather! Big fan of Henrys and The Residents since forever! I worked on the Aeon Flux MTV series and remember seeing this about that time and ended up playing it at my nightclub in the industrial from time to time - people loved it!

It's cool to see the film that impressed Tim Burton enough to hire Selick to direct, "The Nightmare Before Christmas."
@Charles122 жыл бұрын
They had already worked together in disney animation and I'm very sure Burton knew how experienced Selick was in stop-motion. But if this was the final mark of approval, I'm not surprised.

Very nice quality clip. I remember seeing this on MTV back in the day, and I thought it was really cool. I always wanted to see a follow up, but its been so long now, I doubt that can ever happen.

Seems like Henry Selick has a thing for scissors. If you've seen the movie Twice Upon a Time he uses them in a sequence as well. EDIT (3/2/2024): I just realized he did the same thing for Monkeybone when the dog is having a nightmare with cats about to cut his balls off.

A lot of Slow Bob's animation seems to foreshadow how Henry would have Jack animated in Nightmare Before Christmas. Also, I love how his individual parts allow for squash and stretch in some shots.

MEEEEEEMORIIIIIEEEEEES... God, seeing this again just takes me back to when I had a VHS copy of the _Nightmare Before Christmas_ laserdisc's behind-the-scenes material. Too bad Disney had to cut most of it--including this--out for the DVD release.

Wow this is really beautiful animation. I love Henry Selick's work so much, it had such a specific flair to it.

Thanks for the best quality ever seen for this clip, Heather... Selick?! Now this totally looks like something else! Wonderful, undecypherable little creep. Too bad Henry never made it into an actual series, I wonder how beautiful, dreamlike and hauntingly weird it might have been. Still waiting for another film of his...

Also, is there any possibility to see any of his other short films, such as Seepass somewhen? Cheers.
