I remember listening to this 10 years ago. This was my intro to jazz. Their No Mystery cover has to be one of the best.

RIP the great George Duke and guitarist Jeff Johnson. First time I listened to these two phenomenal artists was Casino Lights 99 with Larry Kimpel. I really enjoyed this content and shout. out to Ronald Bruner and Michael Manson.

It's kind of hard to bop in your seat when your jaw is on the floor. The energy in combination with the incredible musicianship and precision of each player is astounding!

Amazing Band. Love the track "Pearls in the Sun". I wish they had cut a version on Rocks Pebbles and Sand.

I cant find “ pearls in the sun “ in any record. S Clarke record that song in studio?
@flame-sky7148Ай бұрын
@@bluesdoc He cut the track on the Thunder Album S.M.V. but it's called "Lil' Victa." It's basically the same song. I'll look for other versions, but I know Stanley played it at the NSJF in 1980 as well.

I seen this particular group of TOP many times in Stockton Civic. As big as that stage is they took up every inch with equipment and band lighting and rodies. There will never be another time in music like this

RIP Michael 'Mike' Baker, who passed away one year ago at age 66 from cancer. He was already a remarkable drummer back then, and later played with many others, among them the great Bruce Hornsby and Whitney Houston, for which he was the musical director for some years.

I brought this band ( different sax player ) to Salt Lake City around this time. John ( much to his tour managers chagrin…) was SO friendly and open. One of the best “musical” nights of my life that I wasn’t performing myself.
@syn7073 күн бұрын
Not a surprise. One of the concerts of his I saw, The Trio, I had Trilok’s and Eckhardt’s autographs. John was entering the artist’s dwelling and I yelled out his name, and came running. I can’t believe I did that..acting like a fan but. But he was gracious, gave me his autograph and answered a few questions.
