I’m so happy to find that so many others share my passion for this sonata. The definitive performance is by Malcolm Frager, likewise available on KZbin. The levels of both precision and jubilation will blow you away.

This is in 12/8 and should be felt in 4 beats to the bar. The tempo is too slow especially for the tempo of Allegrissime.

No no no. Far too fast. It is music with feelings and emotions. This performer has selected all the correct keys and depressed them all for the correct length of time - as fast as possible. Zero musicality sadly

This - and several other sonatas - gives me the impression that Scarlatti took this musical material from street tunes he heard in Madrid and other Spanish sites. Scarlatti seems to always have been a keen listener.

I sang this in boychoir some 2 dozen years ago now, and while it was among my favorite songs at the time I hadn’t thought much of it since. I’m so glad the almighty algorithm put this in my feed, it was a great nostalgia trip

WOW. one of th efew I haven't played yet. I need to study this one. Scarlatti is always so magnificent in his ornamentation, use of instrumental imagery and devices. Love love love

I have performed this one many times. It has some fiendish accidentals and tricky ornamentation. Those presto 4 octave descending scales are tricky on the harpsichord. But great fun

A gorgeous rendition. Just one thing, a little advice for anyone learning this piece: at measure 24 roll the LH chords, separately finger the C and D at the top of the chord (don't play them just w the thumb). This makes a delicious clash when the RH is playing the C#.

When I was a boy, I asked my piano teacher to help me to learn this piece. I did not confess to her I had listende to this beautiful sonata watching a movie by Borowicz, as she was an old, serious and very religioous lady...

The Kreuzige motif repetition intention is to simulate the rythm and sound one makes when nailing someone against a cross with a hammer. That's Bach's intention. Genius all around.
