Do you still have the bike? if so how has it held up? Do these bikes come with an odometer from the factory? There is one for sale near me that has one not sure if the owner added it or not but it's very low mileage.
@quaddawg18 күн бұрын
Just a note for anyone doing this. You absolutely do NOT need to remove the crank pulley/balancer. Remove the tensioner and rotate the pulley to where the c shaped cut out is lined up with the lower pump bolt. Break that bolt loose and they will almost always spin out easily by hand. in addition. ALL the other water pump bolts are easily accessible with extensions... Not sure why you couldn't access your last bolt ... Thanks for making this video

Hello , was it enough to just add the coolant and start it? no vacuum circuit pressurization? I changed the thermostat now and I have to top up the fluid
@OGGarrettsGarage24 күн бұрын
@Tony-oz7jf as I recall, I filled it, then warmed it up (idle), cycled the heater off and on while sealed and pressurized, then let it cool off and checked the level. It took a couple of efforts, and then all seemed good and stable.

@OGGarrettsGarageАй бұрын
@AMZGLOBALREVIEWS yes, the charging issue has been solved. Now the coolant transfer pipe has started leaking. I'll fix that soon.
@AMZGLOBALREVIEWSАй бұрын
@@OGGarrettsGarage glad you solved it! was it the ibs or the alternator or what? I got the same issue man.

@AMZGLOBALREVIEWS it was a slowly dieing voltage regulator on the alternator.

@OGGarrettsGarageАй бұрын
@carguy4580 so far, so good. Daily driving the 650i. My X5 has started leaking from the transfer pipe though, so I'll be doing the job again on that car soon. Going to see if I can do it much faster (now that I'm an experienced amateur). Thanks for commenting! Be sure to order the good seals if you are doing this yourself. The Chinese seals that come with the kit are trash.

I know this post is a little older, but I was stranded a week ago with the idiot light scenario, a dead dash, air turning off while driving then engine dying on the freeway while doing 70. It started in limp mode without computer controlled transmission, made it to an off ramp and locked it up. Came back with a truck and trailer to find the window rolled down and the car unlocked (in was 115°). Battery was now dead and transmission couldn’t be shifted to neutral. Dragged it on the trailer. Charged it with an AGM charger which showed the battery was fine and healthy. However, the charging voltage is now 17.3 vdc! Assuming the voltage regulator was shot, so replacing the alternator. Hopefully I’m on the right path, but my scanner says nothing is testable, like it cannot access the ecu…
@OGGarrettsGarage2 ай бұрын
@nvboatguy it took me 3 years of screwing around with my x5 before I finally replaced the alternator / voltage regulator even though there was never any scanner or dashboard warning indicating charging problems. It fixed the problem. There is a way to put it into neutral with everything dead. On mine it's under the driver side cup holder. Pop out a cover and you can reach in using a plastic tool that's with the jack stuff, then turn it to get neutral (be sure you're ready because she's gonna roll away). Good luck!

@@OGGarrettsGarage Thanks! I fired up the car after the battery tested ‘normal and fully charged’, thinking that maybe a computer which controlled alternator output might adjust the regulator to charge at a normal voltage. Nope! I guess that’s not how it’s supposed to work, and that maybe the alternator/with built-in regulator is a stand-alone unit that self adjusts- but with BMW, you never know what they come up with to control this stuff. Going to verify this is a Bosch alternator, and get one coming. This whole episode was out of the blue, with no previous issues…!!

Mine gave codes for high pressure fuel pump, low pressure fuel pump, 4x4 malfunction, ABS malfunctioning, light bulbs, fuel injectors. I lost my mind changing parts, until I just happened to look at the alternator and noticed that one of the wires was completely corroded off because of the stupid coolant hoses hanging over the top of the alternator and dripping hot coolant on the connector. I changed the hoses and clamps, and got a new connector. Problem solved and the car ran like a beast, my idle also became smooth as butter.
@OGGarrettsGarage3 ай бұрын
@Gboogie22 it turned out that mine was all caused by a slowly dying voltage regulator. I put in a new alternator/ regulator and it's all better now. It is crazy how the car will start giving all variety of warnings when it's all caused by the low voltage. Thanks for commenting!

Thank you sir for helping me fix my rv door Handle . The center oval part that the inside door Handel interacts with was verry worn out and I was missing a spring, took the little snap ring out flipped that over the other way greased everything up and took apart a pen for the missing spring. Door works much better now. For some reason the inside handle is still saggy when the door is shut but at least it shuts correctly every time now!

I think the smoke outlet should br only at the back. The logic is: your inteke air is in the front, it will tend to rise up and acape to the chamney. If you force the smoke to scape through the rear you make the unburt wood gas enter in contact with your secundairy air that is coming from roles all the way to the back. This modification should be easy just needing to close the front gap btween your metal sheet and the barrel. With over a year of experience you shoud be able to tell if what i say makes sense.

I don’t know where you’re at on fixing the coolant leak, but if you do a little research online you will find a much easier fix for that leaking coolant pipe than removing the manifold and such. It is an insert for the pipe and it’s not real expensive.
@OGGarrettsGarage4 ай бұрын
An insert? So, I'm guessing it would be going in through the water pump? Interesting. Thanks I'll look into it for the next one (I have an x5 with this same v8). Meanwhile, I got the manifold off the 650 about an hour ago. Cheers and thanks for watching and commenting!
