I think you could do more damage by anchoring one spoke then using that tool. I'm going to go ahead and use a stop tool

You'd think but you really don't. This is how they tell you to do it. The stop tool is just for the cast wheels. At $2000 each for my BMW wheels trust me, if there was any chance of damage I wouldn't have proceeded.

Common sense says not to ram the equipment into thick brush. cut it down if it takes few pass my guess is it more designed to pull thru brush then to back right over.

I have those same shrubs/weeds or whatever they are on some properties I've recently inherited that were neglected for many years.... I don't know what their name is, but they are tough as steel cable I swear! And like you discovered they have a really thick section that's just a foot or so tall at the base that might as well be concrete... I've been using a 78" Titan DB200 Ditch/Bank flail mower and a 65 HP John Deere tractor and it's brutal work chopping those things up! I am amazed you still had all the front guard plates on your Nova flail mower, I've lost close to a dozen of the front guard plates off my Titan they get knocked off far too easily. Still, these flail mowers are The Bomb.... the things they can handle mulching up never fail to amaze me, and the cut quality of hammer blades can't be beat!

Jack under the strut pushing up to put pressure on it? Same trick is used to tighten spinning lower balljoints. Worst case scenario you may have to cut it out. May also need to hit it with some PB Blaster a few times, let that soak in for a few hrs.

The chain tension on the BMW F850GS is measured on the side stand (as stated in the user manual and service manual). If you measure it on the center stand, you will get an incorrect result.

Should the rear wheel be on the ground on in the air?
@rednecktech82
@rednecktech82 21 күн бұрын
I say ground but it can vary by make and model, you have to check whatever your manual says. I've even heard some Harley manuals even give two readings, one for the bike on the ground and one for suspended.

@rednecktech82
@rednecktech82 27 күн бұрын
@@shadog1962 too many factors, I mow up and down a big hill so even my turbo diesel tractor bogs down. Depends on the tractors power, the terrain as I mentioned, how tall or thick or wet is the material etc. Flat land with dry grass even 2' tall I say the listed specs on Nova-Tractors website would be accurate.

Redneck Tech is an apt handle. The chain was to tight to begin with and needed loosening, not tightening. Get someone to sit on the bike then measure the slack and you would have found that as the rear wheel compresses, the chain tightens and would have had no slack at all. Good way to destroy output shaft bearings, chain & sprockets The reason why the manual says 40-50mm slack while on the side stand is because the weight of the bike is compressing the rear suspension. The slack required when on the center stand might be more like 60-70mm, maybe more. The only true way of checking chain tension properly is when the centers of the front sprocket, the swing arm pivot and the rear axle line up in a straight line. This is the point the chain is at its tightest. At this point, provide a bit of chain (so it's not tight) and your good to ride. I have an 850GS and when chain slack is set to 50mm on the center stand, as soon as i sit on the bike, the chain is tight, no slack at all and it will tighten more as the rear suspension compresses more. I want my previous bikes shaft drives please.
