For me it takes 4 clicks of the button to make it through one transaction (pistons extend block, pistons extend to draw in the top observer, pistons extend so that the top piston can make contact with the block, pistons extend to draw the top piston and block in. Repeat)

This tutorial is very good and helpful although i will say the closing speed is near to instant but the opening (especially the side double piston extenders) are slightly slow. Also, The build is quite wide and hard to fit in compact entrances.

Quest: Make it Faster!! Dont have Minecraft- but curious.... Would tinkering with the redstone repeaters settings more make it gain more speed? Would Ice instead of bricks make it faster? What if you used Ice walls and had corner powered rails?! Maybe scrap the Minecart idea and try to find a way for the Boat to go crazy speeds in the water using Soul sand AND the Ice piston setup (If that works better than the Stone bricks)

The repeaters are set at one tick intervals and they have to be offset so it probably wouldn’t help with much. Ice boats are faster and I have a video on my channel about making a nether highway using ice boats.
