I find hoya take soooo long to root for me. Like, I've seen them go sooo sad and shrivelled, but then suddenly one day they throw out roots and are able to fully recover. So until the leaves really die off, I let hoya just sit in propagation. You never know! I hope your super silver recovers and such sad news about the waroqueanum but they're divas! I really need an ikea shelf like yours for my Hoyas, my cuttings are getting bigger so I’ll be running out of space. (good problem to have I guess) Your collection looks beautiful! I’ve killed two Frydeks…if I run across another one, I’ll put it in semi-hydro, you’ve given me hope. Nice shirt btw! You’ve reminded me to check on my prop box, I put a bunch of wet sticks from my pothos that gave me some crazy variegation this year. I’ve had it for 15+ year and it has never given me the marble mottled variegation it did this year. Your mom is going to love her present!

My aglaonema pictum is literally such a diva. I've had her for about a year (in the same amount of time, my Melanochrysum went from 10cm leaves, to 40cm). She came to me with like 2 leaves, she has grown probably a total of 6 leaves and they were so ugly. I think my plant lights help with the SAD on the depression side. But I have no motivation, as you said. I'm trying not to let my plants suffer - but it's becoming very obvious which are precious to me and which are not. This is a good way to organically purge plants both making my collection more manageable and making room for more plants. 😊 I'm very into strap-leaf Anthurium and non-velvet Anthurium. I'm tired of moss poles and will use them only for Monsteras albo and esqueleto. I'm moving the obliqua to a support stake and restarting everyone else as trailing plants. If they've rooted well, I can make full plants from rooted cuttings! Hope I'm done with all this by spring 😅

I’m so sorry about the migraines. My daughter suffers with them as well. I don’t get headaches. I live in south central Florida and it’s miserably hot in the summer. It’s so bad, I just stay inside. That’s pretty depressing. I don’t enjoy cold weather, but id rather bundle up than sweat my ass off. I have to ask the name of the silver/green broadleaf plant in the plant stand to your right behind the one with yellow leaves. It’s phenomenal! Appears to be a variety of Aglionema. I’m letting my silver sword trail in a hanging pot. I prefer the smaller leaves. They get too big when they’re on a pole.

I am letting go of the “not having to propagate everything” mentality, but sometimes, depending on the plant, you can’t help it! 😂 My OG pothos that I’ve had for 15+ years put out some STUNNING variegation this year that I HAD to propagate it! I gave a coworker some of my potted up props and it looks absolutely beautiful! I gave another to my husband for his cubicle at work and he hasn’t killed it yet. 😊 My pothos cuttings are scattered throughout my workplace. You know I love the gloomy rainy days spent at home doing productive things like plant chores, cleaning or restyling plants to new locations. I’m weird I guess. I’m in the states, Texas to be exact and summer here gets sooooo hot it’s miserable so I welcome colder temperatures. No snow, we don’t know how to drive in snow! Merry Christmas!

I'm in the UK so the sun has been genuinely setting here at like 3pm, I also live in a valley and on the coast so no snow here, just rain rain rain. I don't tend to get seasonal depression but I do get migraines so I totally understand. Ignore this if you're not interested in advice, but ginger (yes just regular ginger) has been shown in some studies to work as well as migraine medication. I get it in capsules but even in tea or food it can help (not as a painkiller, but more so as a preventive, I take it daily and it has reduced how often I get migraines) and it's a safe thing to supplement with because it doesn't interact with other things. Also, may I suggest embroidery as a hobby, super cozy and endlessly creative! Finally, your view on pests is so wholesome, I love beneficial mites to deal with them personally. It just feels low maintenance.

Love your wishlist, I wish I could keep things that concise, my plant wishlist is just under 40 plants but if I had to pick one of each genus.. Alocasia frydek variegated (I only recently got into alocasia so this one is pretty achievable), Anthurium red spider (why is it so expensive, it's so pretty), Hoya Peltalta (that leaf shape, those blooms! Reminds me of Dischidia nummularia which I also love), Monstera Peru variegated (it reminds me of a anthurium luxurians a little bit), Philodendron Glorious (for some reason I just haven't got one yet even though they're pretty accessible, I'd love a gloriousum galaxy too but those are way out of my budget) and I'll throw in a begonia for good measure, begonia Darthvaderina.

@@thecozyplantco @thecozyplantco yess absolutely going in semihydro, all my other alocasia love it. Hoya Clemensiorum is gorgeous. I have the Borneo sp. Athough it is a gorgeous gorgeous cutting…it takes FOREVER to grow!!! That’s probably why they are still so expensive. Mine has been busy growing roots but no active growth point as of yet. I find Lacunosa grow relatively quick. I have a Hoya Argéntea Princess that took a while to put out new growth but she’s starting to vine for me & she still has her variegation. I bought one for my daughter for Christmas last year at the same time I got mine, hers sadly reverted. I let her choose which one she wanted out of both cuttings. Look at a Hoya Undulata, same crusty dusty gorgeous leaves! This one will want to wrap it tendril around something and climb. I have the Monstera mint on my radar too…I think I like it better than the Monstera Aurea.
