Does this have anything to do with Caterpillar? Is White 60 tractor more accurate
@oldamericaniron5767Күн бұрын
The crawler tractor being loaded and hauled home is a 1926 Caterpillar model 60.

Thanks for subscribing. If you follow up on my videos you’ll see last year I visited your beautiful country. I collaborated with Steve at Steve’s Place Down Under and we traveled south from there to collaborate with Dave at Old Rigs Down Under. I can’t begin to describe what a great time it was. So much so that my wife and I are hoping to plan an extended visit to Australia.

Yeah it's a pretty track unique caterpillar there never seen anything like that or heard anything like that even run it's looks like it's suicide attempt to get those things started wow and it doesn't sound to me like it's much above an idol how in the heck does it move any dirt when there's no RPMs.

It does pretty good. I should check the numbers on the engine. It’s a Cummins and I often get asked the horsepower rating. It has a 5 main and 3 auxiliary so it keeps you busy shifting.
@stevesplacedownunder2 күн бұрын
Good watch mate. Imagine the blokes in those days starting a shift on a cold morning and having to try and start that 60. It always amazes me and I think the same thing when I start up old equipment like that. Tough men back then. Is there enough weight on the drive of that White for a load like this?
@oldamericaniron57672 күн бұрын
I wouldn’t try an uphill pull on gravel and wouldn’t run on a wet road. With the tongue weight it’s good on dry pavement. I wanted to get a flatbed on it, maybe by next year.
@keithwarkentin2 күн бұрын
G exactly when you said I never get tired of hearing the 60 run I was thinking pretty much the same thoughts! I was wondering does the White work pulling that kind of weight home or does it have plenty of power ? And what kind of transmission or transmissions does it have? And how much would that 60 weigh ? 😀🇨🇦
@oldamericaniron57672 күн бұрын

I'm enjoying the process. I'm hoping to build a model a powerd sawmill sometime in my life. I have that model AA truck with a flatbed I plan on using it to haul lumber. Kinda like the Waltons did lol. I live in a fairly small town and I think it would be fun to deliver lumber in the spring time when we are on road restrictions and I can't drive my log truck.

Hi G looks like a nice bright sunny day that’s so nice to see and your going to be trucking again so I wish you lots of safety being on the Highway! I’ll be honest I don’t know much about sawmills but my Uncle Pete who was like a Father to me was building a sawmill just before he passed and he got his plans from the Farmshow magazine and he used old disc brake rotors and space saver tires for the blade to run on and at the very end I could start to understand how it worked and it was good experience to learn about! And so I am watching from a student’s point of view and can’t wait to see how it all goes together! But I just wanted to comment on something completely different and that is how strong you are! You grab the laminated beam from one end and it moves all the way along and you do it and it doesn’t look like it takes any effort at all I sure hope I never get on your bad side 😀🇨🇦

@@oldamericaniron5767 I have a 1975 tandem tandem Grove TMS180 It’s a 18 ton with 70’ live boom and 24’ jib. It’s really well built and very heavy especially with the extra steering axle so I need nice big wide pads so they don’t just sink into the ground once you start booming out far over the side.
