So far, up until minute 8:45, there hasn't been even one single tune that I like. Yikes.... She has this irritating teeny drama singing voice, which I find very annoying. I really try to like this chick, trying to figure out what she's all about. I even like one song from Ariana Grande, but this chick? Noooo (with a frown on my face.) It's painful. Too many words, too overloaded with everything teeeeeeny.

It’s a shame walls wasn’t a big hit… she didn’t do as much press as for partners or encore, didn’t have all the celebrities to help, and the album got into a “trump theme” which I think didn’t help… but I actually love walls. She is recording a new album, who knows, perhaps she gets another number one…. Imagine 12 number ones in 7 decades!!!

1984 was the year I owned 3 of the albums that topped the charts, Thriller, Purple Rain & Born in the USA. I also purchased Private Dancer, The Ghostbusters Soundtrack, 1984, & Like A Virgin (mostly because of the title & Madonna was pretty hot back then, at least to 14 yo boys such as myself. Her music I wouldn't really appreciate for another 4 years). All were in the Top 10 but I don't think I knew what a Billboard Hot 100 was so how they charted didn't have a deciding factor as far as why I purchased the records (and tapes of some as tapes were cheaper than vinal believe it or not. CD's were beginning to become popular but only my parents and people their age could afford them), teenagers spent their allowance on music they liked and I obviously had good taste. Now I did listen to the Sunday Top 40 countdown radio shows, every Sunday, religiously. The first of the day was Top 40 show was Casey Casems Weekly Top 40, his was a more serious subdued version that had a more official tone to it. When he got to the last 10 songs he gave 1 minute facts and histories of the artists before playing the song. I used to spend the day with my Walkman headphones on and had to change the batteries at least once before the end of the day. The best Top 40 show however was Rick Dees Weekly Top 40. His show was hilarious and full of those now cheesey sterio typical 80's musicDJ radio show antics. But still, he was hilarious. And he was Sunday nights so I would listen in bed, again with my Walkman headphones on. I especially remember the summer of 1984. It was the best summer of my young life up until then. Great movies that are now classics were released, the music was great and the cares were few. Our worries were our hair, our clothes, our bikes and our friends were the only people that mattered. It's unfortunate that the latest generations will have nothing nestagic to look back on because those memories sustain us as we're older and living in a world that's probably crazier than it's ever been.

Its insane how cruel summer managed to get to number 1 4 years after release lol

That was the summer I finished college, turned 21, and moved to NYC from Upstate NY. I knew every song that hit #1 and that were in the Top 20, some were favorites but many I hated, and still do. The one that surprised me was Madonna 's Justify My Love, making it to #1 in December of '90 and staying in the top spot thru the first 2 weeks of '91. I dug the song then and remembered the controversy behind it. Then again Madonna was always in the hot seat, and by the beginning of '91, btw anyone under 40 will find this hard to believe, she was so famous, so overly exposed to the point that a day didn't go by (and I'm not exaggerating) where no matter where you were on the planet, the name "Madonna" was heard, read, said and thought about at least once on a daily basis. What I remember most about Justify My Love was that MTV banned the video (forcing her to simply put it out on video to buy for $30, selling millions of copies allowing her to rake in like $10Million just from the video sales alone) and (I actually remember this like it just happened the other day) SNL did a Wayne's World skit that parodied the video and Dana Carney as Garth was a dancer in the video wearing tights with a huge bulge and dancing around a hotel hallway. Hilarious!
