@@Shopgirl2000 I use a huion display tablet with a pen. It's similar to wacom just less expensive.

I used a stylus with pressure sensitivity. You can use a mouse and keyboard to get a similar result as well.

@@82jonesartdesign thank you so much. One more guidance I needed - as we manipulate font using anchor points in illustrator, can it be done is Inkspace. In ai the fonts can be turned to any shape but I see in Inkspace the nodes streching only in angular direction not like illustrator (circular from anywhere, plus anchor points can be added) , My thinking was to rework on fonts without any hindrance.

@@defendersart3051 I haven't used inkscape but editing text into shapes you could try the text warp tool/option. That should work similar to how it works in illustrator.

Just starting to do a deep dive on vector drawing using Affinity. Drew pencil portraits for my family years ago and have been hooked ever since. I realize now that I need to develop my skills with tones and recognizing shapes with the pen tool. I like the way you did her eyelashes. Most videos I’ve seen are true to the details. Great job! Thanks for sharing! I learned a few new things.

I'm still learning with Affinity too. I try to get the details and shading as close as I can. Sometimes it doesn't go as planned but I still learn something new even if it doesn't turn out so good. Thanks for watching.

Thank you for this video! I'm starting off with your suggestions. I was wondering if you would be able to give a little explanation on when you would use each brush in your project I know the use of tools is pretty subjective. But I do appreciate us starting point. Lol

Sure, it's changed a bit since I made this mini tutorial. I usually use the vector brush for most of the line work or drawing because I can use my custom vector brush to help with more variation with pressure sensitivity. I use the pencil tool more for coloring and shading. I also use the pencil tool for hair detail work and it can use gradients better than the vector brush tool. Hope that helps some.

I use a display tablet with pressure sensitivity to get the line variation. I also have settings in affinity designer that are set for pressure.

Affinity Designer doesn't have a phone version at all.

Nice video. I have Huion Kamvas 16(2021). When I draw in Affinity Designer with pencil tool/pen tool, the pen nib lags about 1 centimeter. The pen nib does not lag when I draw in Medibang or Krita. Is there a solution for this? Please help..

You can try updating the driver that might help. There is a setting inside of Affinity Designer for how precise you can draw that might help as well. You'll find it in the program preferences I think. Hope that helps.
