The right of way thing, while it totally makes sense, just not from an exertion point of view. Hear me out, you are out of breath hiking up a climb, all you want to do is stop, someone is moving quick down hill so you move out of courtesy but really you just need a breather :)

Totally makes sense but I didn't make the rules. I will say, I sincerely appreciate it when I'm trail running when someone steps off the path for me.

I did this hike, and several others in Guadalupe park at the end of July, and it was incredibly hot during the summer. It is interesting seeing so many people, it was very dead when I was there. It was cool remembering exactly all of your shot locations and my much different feelings as I was climbing.

Great video! And yes the people in Texas are amazing. If you're trying to pursue all of the state high-points or you just like hiking random mountains, I'd recommend giving Borah Peak a try. It's Idaho's highest peak and provides some fun class 3 scrambling on the summit ridge. It's located in the Lost River Range where you can find a ton of other beautiful peaks and views. Absolutely one for the summer though.

Not chasing anything tbh BUT have only been to Idaho once and need to get back soon.

I have climbed Guadalupe several times. I don't know what it is about this peak, possibly the carbonate rubble that you have to walk on the entire way, but it is indeed as you point out, a knee killer. It's actually 8751' (you said 7800' but I suspect you simply inverted the first two numbers as your wrist altimeter was correct). Enjoyed the video. Wise not to attempt it in the heat of summer.

Appreciate all of your comments, likes and support this year my friend. Hope you have a great remainder of 2024 as well! I have not yet started planning 2025, but love that region of the country and would love to get up there again and into Canada. Initially thinking of a trip to the Sawtooths as well but we will see

Island girl here. Definitely ignore the people who are giving negativity. That pilau is across all the islands and honestly does come from hurt of seeing things change and be disrespected over the years. But if you good tourist then it’s okay. Da kine, If you respect the aina, care for the people and are prepared to be as safe as possible then you should receive back respect. This video was also nice for those who can’t go do the hike safely anymore. To experience it with you without paying choke price on a helicopter ride as the only other way of seeing.

Going hiking Elbert in December… do you recommend spikes and double boots ?
@TheVirtualsherpa
@TheVirtualsherpa 11 күн бұрын
Spikes yes - double boots, I don't know what that means. Pack warm and check weather + understand avi conditions.
@alphazerotactical1518
@alphazerotactical1518 11 күн бұрын
@ double boots are 6000 meter mountaineering boots. Like scarpa 6000HD. Or something like the lasportivas Nepal ? Or yet lighter than that like a la sportiva aequillibrium ?

I think that would be an overkill but everyone is different. I would bring whatever you feel most comfortable in and know how to use.
