But mathematically according to the entropy equation, wouldn't it mean that the entropy of the system also decreases by -6.86kj. I know that the system should technically have more entropy because of more gaseous moles in products but how does that equates mathematically here?

9:35 Hello! May I ask why is the unit M^-1 not s-^1, shouldn't the unit for rate constant of first order rxns be s^-1
@shanthala13452 жыл бұрын
Why can't intermediate be in rate law

@@shanthala1345 that’s how I made it stick. But yeah it does exist but it’s formed in on step and consumed in the next, it’s not present right at the beginning but is formed after the reaction starts. This is why we can’t include it in the rate equation because in the overall reaction the intermediate isn’t there

@@Matetas-gv8ljohh, thank you,very kind!! Last semester we learnt kinetics, i was learning "steady state approximation", i still don't entirely understand . What are you studying?

at 9:46... the Q(rxn) is -70.2 kJ but isnt it supposed to be in kJ/mol?

Nice catch. I did stop the problem early and should have divided the final answer by the number of mols of hexane to finish the problem.
