Pretty sure they did. It is a continental with serial number from '64

Funny I've a 64 model massey ferguson with a continental engine, and a 67 model with peekins diesel, but my neighbor has a 74 model with the perkins 3 cylinder gas engine. So where he came up with no gas powered massey ferguson tractors after 1964, he must have dreamed that, are perhaps he's from another planet. As I'm sure the UK, India, Canada, as well as the US is plume full of both varieties. Only thing I don't remember that many of is propane fueled massey's, but that doesn't mean that they're not out there in the barns, and fields around the world somewhere. I've struggled with the same issues with my gasoline powered masseys, and the only one that I don't is the one diesel tractor. Same as you I've changed every tune up component, checked timing plug and points gap, coils, and yes even voltage regulator. Even went as far as to do alternator single wire conversation to no help, and I set all valve gaps with feeler gauge and micrometer to find absolute point of open and close of all valves. So beats me the secret of smoothing out the dam things, because I'm either too lean, or choking on fumes rolling up from exhaust. Plus I've rebuilt carbs, done as she done, and even watched everything the guru of MF tractors says to do Bundy Bear. Beats the ____, outta me.

It’s the voltage regulator! I just swapped mine out and it didn’t problems just like you are having! I cleaned and checked everything before would tune it and as soon as I put a load on it it would just die out. Same rich gas smell and all now it’s fixed! I made a gmail just to help ya out and let you know buddy! Love my massy!

I have a MF 65 similar to yours, I’m having some running issues as well. What is your point gap set to? My runs for a little bit then coughs and backfires sometimes. I’ll try turning the carb to these specs

That's your multi shifter, it is basically like an extra gear in both ranges. Likely you just have connect the linkage unless the gear inside the transmission is messed up and that's why someone had disconnected it. I don't have much info beyond that, mine works great.

Both the M-F 50 & the M-F 65 sounded sweet & started right up ! & that's what great about a gasoline tractor when it's that cold outside they start right up when you have them tuned & adjusted right & no need to plug in . Thanks for the video & I'm glad your team Massey - Ferguson is working for You & those sweet Continental Engines.

That's a Mighty-Fine = M-F 50 sounds pretty stout & those Z134 Continental engines are pretty tough as well what year is she ? I have a 1959 M-F 50 & have had it for 25 years & the best upgrade I did was put a electronic ignition in her & in that time I've only replaced the plugs twice , & rotor & cap twice as well ! & it has made her as reliable as my newer tractor that I bought new in 2018 a M-F of course M-F 1526 diesel 4wd with a fel to be exact ! But the M-F 50 gets as much work & is a keeper as well as my newer M-F thanks for the video .

the MF 50 is a 1962. I repaired an axle seal & did the break shoes on the left side while I had the wheel off. I had an electronic ignition on the MF 65 but when I first got it I kept leaving the ignition on too long and fried it. Went back to points.

Just by what I see in the video the points are opening way too far. I may be wrong but you should check the points with the points ware block on the high point of the distributor cam using the proper feeler gauge.

The best thing You can do for the ignition is go electronic ! I have been using a Pertronix electronic ignition for 22 years & I have only replaced the cap & rotor twice in that time & plugs once I also put on a Pertronix Flame Thrower coil & some custom red 8mm plug wires on & I have replaced the carb about 5 years ago. If you decide to put a Pertronix in You will need to give them the tag no. at the base of the distributor , Also they had two different manufactures for the distributors ! I have a clip on cap which is a AC Delco I noticed yours is held on by screws & I can't remember who made those I want to say Autolite but I'm not sure. You should have a dual clutch 1/2 way down is to engage the gears all the way down engages the PTO. On engine oil I use Valvoline 10w30 racing oil ( high in zinc ) 3 quarts& 3 quarts 10w30 conventional & a 1010 oil filter from NAPA ,also if You are going to change the gear oil make sure to use a mineral gear oil only, Mine takes 8 gallons ! YES 8 GALLONS ,You can also get that at NAPA or Tractor Supply Company . On your carb. they are not very responsive ! It sounds fine . I hope this was helpful & thanks for the video.

There was an electronic ignition in it when I got it but being a rookie I ended up leaving the ignition on and burned it out, and the coil so I had to get that replaced. In the end I just went with the regular points and condenser because it was cheaper. It's been good since.

Very nice M-F 65 ! What year is she ? Looks allot like my 1959 M-F 50 & the sheet metal looks great on it as well , I take it that's a Z134 Continental engine in it , These tractors are real work horses! I've had my Mighty-Fine= M-F for 25 years now very reliable! Do you plan on keeping her? Thank You for the video & if your open to suggestions or need help with her let me know.I saw your other video & found out she is a 1964.
