That's why Maciek emphasizes that we only use it when we can point the board's nose upwind or possibly crosswind, never downwind, because a gust of wind could rip the whole setup out of our hands 👍

I don’t recommend changing batten tension when the sail is rigged with this system, because of the tension on the battens. When you click it back, the clip can easily break, especially on the lower 3 battens with a lot of tension on them. I broke a clip, and it’s hard to replace it. Despite that, the cam and batten system is pretty decent.

We can do the same - with less risk for the fingers and the “cutting board” - with tape, isn’t it? 😊

Using a board as a cutting-table? Then you know you are watching a fully sponsored rider :) Although it fits nicely with the relaxed 'what could possibly go wrong' vibe of the video.

Nice! I might try that. I made a downhaul tool from a wooden hammer handle, and use that to pull on the downhaul rope with a cow hitch. I'm still using my legs for force and keeping my back straight, but because the rope is in my hands (via the tool) I feel I can fine tune it more easily than by legs alone. It also means my harness can stay in my kit bag until I'm changed and ready to put it on (rigging/changing can get complicated enough depending on the parking situation!).

Good tips. But with all respect is not the best system imo. After a while it will flip open by itself or it breaks. Keep it as simple and durable, tensioning with a key doesnt take that long
@EASY-surfshop
@EASY-surfshop 2 ай бұрын
Of course, having the key on hand, you'll be ready to go on the water in a similar amount of time 🤙 Since we started selling NeilPryde sails in our store, we haven't had any complaints from customers about anything breaking or opening by itself. NeilPryde has had this system for years, so it is a well-proven and tested patent.

i've tried to attach unifiber protection to my JP freeride board, but even though i did it similar to your video, nose protection had fallen of and was lost after 2 hrs of surfing. 😢 I didnt wrap it in film, but put some heavy stuff(sand bags ) on the protection for several days

Hi, I bought this article from you, and assembled it following the instructions in the video, unfortunately the external part has already come off as the protector seems too rigid and inflexible. The board hasn't been brought to the beach yet, so the adhesive still hasn't taken sand, is there any way to fix it? Maybe heating it with a heat source softens it ...

Question: What if you want to remove the protector after a couple of years (e.g. If you want to sell your board). Does this damage the boards painting/surface?
@EASY-surfshop
@EASY-surfshop 3 жыл бұрын
Hi Sebastiaan, it's difficult to entirely eliminate 3M Adhesive after removal nose protector. You can try some kind of solvent (check on small area if it doesn't destroy board graphics) or just piece of cloth with hot water.

Consider batten pocket, instead of batten sleeve in the text below.

Hi my fellow windsufers!. I found a way to remove the battens without cutting or puncturing the battens sleeves. Simple... take a piece of used hose, make a small cut at the end of it, make a a kind of loop with a chord of guitar or something similar, joining those two parts of the cutting in the hose, one fixed and the other long enough so that u can hold it while inserting in the sleeve (the hose with the cutting point in the direction of the broken part to grab/embrace it). Once grabbed /embraced, just pull the chord to grabe the broken part and pull it out of the sleeve.Simple tool to make at home.

@@sabyx5 Hi there,!! Sorry to the so late reply..Unfortunately i don´t have a video. Well how can I explain..U know at the end of the hose make a cut aproximately 5 cm...parallel to the lenght of the hose... them u make to small holes at each side of the already cut edges at aproximately 1,5 cm. Them u pass the guitar chord or any similar material through um hole make a small not at the end of it so that it won´t slide in the hole when u pull the other end of the cord ( this end has to pass through the other hole on the hose and be long enough so that when u slide the hose on the batten pocket and U must be holding then end so u r reach the broken part of the batten um pull to grab it ) Once u felt u grabbeb the broken batten just push the cord a little hard to have more grabbing pressure them take the batten out.I know it´s complicated to explain.But u will get the idea...

Sorry for mispelling the words. U r right..garden hose..and guitar string and yes it´s a longitudinal cutting about 10 cm or 3 inches more or less...The diameter of the hose must fit inside the batten pocket..In fact it´s difficult to explain...to prevent the string from slipping u need to make a smal loop or knot (one end of the string) the other end of the string u will be holding lose while u calmly insert the hose (with the cutting trying to catch the broken piece of the batten) by the time u catch it u pull the end of the string that u are holding and while mainting it pulled u bring the broke piece of batten out...simple... Hope u undestand..

Sounds interesting.. but I could not understand, it seems some words are not correctly spelled and is it very hard to follow your explanation. By " hope", do you mean "rope" or "hose".? I assume hose, although not sure if you mean garden hose or just tubing. By guitar "chord" you mean guitar "string:? What material, diameter for the "hose", same ID as OD of batten? How fo you prevent the string from coming out while you insert the "hose" in the pocket? Is the cut in the tip of the hose longitudinal? Still, with these changes/guesses I could not fully understand..
