A Lychgate is the main entrance to the churchyard. Some have seats, that was for the main mourners. They come in many designs and a lot are memorials to a important person or person's.

Well done Mrs Spitfire for your commentary it must have been hard to do and thank you kevin. i was 10 years old at the time and this was the first disaster i remember. My family and i watch the tv till it closed down at midnight and we had breakfast on a tray the following day. But things just got worse for the family's after that .years after the offers from the coal board for a measly £50 for a childs life How those people suffered

That was a lovely tour, Kev, with a fantastic ending. The Darwin connection is terrific! I was also intrigued by the French military grave near the beginning. It was clearly, as you said, from World War I, but I've never seen a grave like that before. I wonder how he came to be buried there. Great find! 👍

@spitfirekev7 күн бұрын
Can I ask why?
@lakefromeshippingcompany7 күн бұрын
It's winter here and when those big cold air masses sweep up from the Subantarctic or the Southern Ocean I often think of albatrosses. Not that I'm very likely to see one here in Adelaide but there have been sightings at around the same latitude in the Great Australian Bight. 🌏

The Masons I’ve known a few, I’ve been asked to join once and I’ve been to a Masonic funeral. I’ve joked with one of my friends whom is a mason mentioning “well I know you fellows are busy behind the scenes taking over the world and stuff” and I got a funny response from him, he said “yeah, world domination from us? We can’t even decide what sandwiches to have during the next meeting, ham or turkey?” 😂😂😂
