I got a surge about almost 5 years ago an love it, wished it had s30v blade on it like some of the charge series tools, but since this last December for my birthday I purchased for myself the Arc,I love bot an carry both every day, wished they had put a T-shank adapter on the Arc an a kail knick on the file like they did for the surge,I definitely love the longer file on my Arc but the thumb slot causes the sharpening capabilities a little short cause of the hole but I've learned to use it as is for touching up my other edged tools,I love being able to take off the file on the surge for my Arc to touch up the if necessary but so far I've not had to since it's magnacut an factory edge is still holding up quite well,I love it for quick deployment of the fick able blade an one handed opening and closing of the tools,an all tools are on the outside except for the pliers.

I have one from the original run at bark river. I love bark River and I love my jx5, but I can't stand Chris "Pee-wee Herman" Tanner.

It's a nice knife, I'm a fan of BRK, but please learn how to chop - watching you hack away at that tree was painful to watch.

Excellent vid. Thanks. I have been considering buying this knife. Does the finger guard get in the way of different hand positions? Or cause blisters?

The Camp 18 is very nice and the Camp 10 is another good one and it's still available. Unlike the Camp 18 & 14 by Kershaw.

I have both this 18 inch and the 10inch version. I love them both. I drilled m out the grommets to separate the sheath halves and lined them with black felt. Then bolted them back together with 3mm bolts.. No more rattles. I made a thumb operated catch to hold the knives in the sheaths, no snaps quick draw. The 18inch, I put a round swivel detachable bukle on the end of the sheath with the other half of the bukle on the side of the heal of my boots. So I carry the 18inch on my lower calfe with a strap at the top of the sheath just below my knee. Works for me.

Do you like reviews about discontinued products? Then you are in the right place. Better late than never, I guess. I managed to get the 18 a couple years ago, but it was not easy. 😅 The Kershaw camp blades come in several sizes, they are well balanced and indeed nice to have. Get them while you can. :)

another nice review! As I mentioned already on your Aurora review, I have a Bark River Gunny Scandi in Ironwood & CPM 3V. I am now thinking of adding another Bark River, yet I am hesitating between an Aurora Scandi, an UltraLite Bushcrafter or a Mini Gunny. Not sure if I should go with something larger or smaller and which one ... I recently went with my son into the woods, also came close to a deer only a few meters away :D cheers from Germany ;)

Awesome review! I have a Bark River Kephart CPM3V 5inch and I am extremely pleased with how my knife has preformed for me in all aspects of EDC and woodscrafting. I am definitely impressed by the quality and fantastic customer service that was shown to me by the Bark River sales team. I had researched the knife I wanted for over two years and had specific needs and levels of quality in order to spend the financial investment in my knife. Bark River not only spent time discussing my wants and design features I required ,they asked the staff if one of the employees would be willing to build the knife from start to finished creation and i was successful in finding a volunteer to talk to personally so i could tell him my ideas and what I wanted to change in the knife to fit me . He was able to invision my knife the way I had been dreaming of. It took a while longer than usual to finish out the knife but when i received my knife it was beyond my dreams. It truly is "one of a thousand " It was hand centered perfectly, the bevel was without the secondary bevel, one continuous convex from the spine , the red liners under black g10 handels with a front pinched bevel to assist in cleaning cuts in game. The knife is like a laser in its sharpness and I've only used a ceramic rod ( fine ) and a strop with white compound to keep it remarkably sharp . I actually cut myself every time i used it the first 3 months 😅 . It wouldn't be deep but I would find it cutting the first layer of skin or two without me felling I've been cut. Now I've become accustomed to using my knife and I've now carried it EDC and out in camping 🏕 for almost three years . I do not abuse it , I have batonned with it , cleaned game , used it in the kitchen for meal prep and to eat with at restaurants ( it looks much like a kitchen knife as Kephart described ) but with hidden features and super steel CPM3V. I hope you enjoy your Bark River knifes as much as I have enjoyed mine . It was totally worth the research ,the effort with Bark River in the making of it and the final expense. To me it out preforms all my expectations in every way. It still amazes me every time I take it out and put it into action. It is great to see new younger people picking up the mantle of the woodsman and bushcrafting enthusiast . Thank you very much for your time and creative imagination in presenting such good reviews and video sharing of information. Have a great week and keep up the good work 💪.

Hello young knife enthusiast. How did you find the finish of this blade? I've had many BR knives and I must say the last ones came with minor defaults (for example cutting edge symmetry). Thanks for your review. Ps: Desert ironwood handles are exquisite 👌

Great knife, blade is a alittle thin to be a great knife for batoning but it’s excels as a sliver. I have a few ULBs and they are my favorite BRKT design.
