I remember Kermit the frog singing this and it has such a sweet sentimental feeling.

Songs of Winter • 2018 The First Noel Lyrics of The First Noel by The Hound + The Fox, Haley Johnsen The first Noël The angels did say Was to certain poor shepherds In fields as they lay, In fields where they lay Are Keeping their sheep On a cold winter′s night That was so deep. Noël Noël Noël Noël! Born is the King of Israel! They looked up and saw a star Shining in the East beyond them far, And to the earth it gave great light, And so it continued both day and night. Noël Noël Noël Noël! Born is the King of Israel! Noël Noël Noël Noël! Born is the King of Israel! And by the light of that same star Three wise men came from country far, To seek for a King was their intent And to follow the star Wherever it went. Noël Noël Noël Noël! Born is the King of Israel! ADORE: A GUIDED ADVENT JOURNAL FOR PRAYER AN...Meditations THIRD WEEK OF ADVENT SATURDAY THE HOLY SPIRIT COMES WHERE HE IS LOVED, WHERE HE IS INVITED, WHERE HE IS EXPECTED. ST. BONAVENTURE ANTICIPATION In the time leading up to the birth of Christ, Mary and Joseph must have spent time wondering what this child would be like. They probably shared ideas and hopes, wondered how his personality would develop, and imagined what it would be like for their home to be filled with new sounds and life. Their home at Nazareth must have been filled with the music of their shared delight in anticipation of Jesus' birth. What was it like for Mary to feel the child move in her womb? To let the Holy Spirit stir her anticipation of meeting this little one? How often during those months did she return to the words of the angel? "He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High ... and of his kingdom there will be no end" (Lk 1:32-33). How she must have wondered at the meaning of such lofty words, and how she must have longed to see the face of the One so mighty. Regardless of how much she knew of what was to come, how humbled and honored she must have felt to recognize that this divine King's first months in our midst were spent within her own womb, that she would hold him lovingly to her breast before his might would be known to the world. What must have gone through Joseph's mind as he watched Mary quietly ponder these matters, as he saw the delicate smile crease her face as her mind's eye glimpsed the joy that was to come? Did she notice his attentive observation and lift her eyes to his? Imagine those moments, mostly wordless, as smiles passed from one to the other and the warmth of expectation joined their hearts. Wonderfully, we realize, none of their expectations could ever measure up to the sheer grace that awaited them in the years to come. In quite a real way, this is also where we find our-selves. We ponder scripture, we remember the mighty works of God, and we look forward in great hope to that which is to come. With Mary and Joseph at this moment in Advent, we look forward with hope, and we recognize with delight that we still have only the slightest glimmer of all the good that God has prepared for us. REFLECT Write about your experience over the past week of focusing your attention on the nearness of Christ. Take a few minutes to write about this in your journal. PRAY LORD JESUS CHRIST, I AM FILLED WITH ANTICIPATION OF YOUR ARRIVAL. EVEN AS I CELEBRATE YOUR NATIVITY, I LOOK AHEAD TO THE COMPLETE FULFILLMENT OF YOUR BEAUTIFUL PLAN TO REDEEM AND RESTORE YOUR PEOPLE.

We three kings of Orient are Bearing gifts, we traverse afar Field and fountain, moor and mountain Following yonder star Born a King on Bethlehem′s plain Gold I bring to crown Him again King forever, ceasing never Over us all to reign Ohhh Star of wonder, star of night Star with royal beauty bright Westward leading, still proceeding Guide us to thy perfect Light Frankincense to offer have I Incense owns a Deity nigh Prayer and praising, voices raising Worshiping God on high Myrrh is mine, it's bitter perfume Breathes life of gathering gloom Sorrowing, sighing, bleeding, dying Sealed in a stone-cold tomb Ohhh Star of wonder, star of night Star with royal beauty bright Westward leading, still proceeding Guide us to thy perfect Light The perfect light Glorious now behold Him arise King and God and Sacrifice Halleluia halleluia! Sounds through the earth and skies Sounds through the earth and skies

That's an interesting lyric, wrapped in the chill of Midwinter! I thought most people kind of understood that Jesus was not born in the winter.

Thank you for this Mr. and Mrs. Hound and Fox. May I make a request for next Christmas, please? I would love to hear you both sing, "Tomorrow Shall be my Dancing Day," as a duet. It's normally sung as a quartet, but I love Victorian Era Christmas carols and would love to hear this one sung more frequently.
