GTA 4 is overrated, Niko brags about his off screen war vet story but it ahs 0 role in game other than finding Darko, he can't even drive tanks a feature you could do in my first GTA that is GTA 2 in 1999 and you can't even save cars you like in garages!

It's a glitch, you can rewatch the button inputs and see how Niko physically picks up the gun as opposed to it being added to his inventory automatically by walking over it.
