That’s awesome. I ordered my first scarab on New Year’s Day and it’s supposed to come in tomorrow. I got it in the singe edge configuration with the apocalyptic finish. I’m so hyped for it and I’ll most likely be doing a review on it.

Like my Medford knives too, they are badass. The Midi is probably the best of both worlds not too big not too small, a slightly heavy edc knife. Like anything we all have different tastes. Some guys will like a corvette and another guy will prefer a 4x4 truck. Or you have someone like me who can appreciate and likes both lol. Life is too short for one style of anything over another. You can have a preference but one thing is not necessarily better than another. Good video.

Great knives but sold my entire collection - killing the Praetorian to no sculpting to switching to cheap knives - Greg has been a hot mess IMO and I like stability.

That new blade shape looks totally awfull... and cutting abilities i believe are also poor as in DE model. I owned 4 Scarabs II, and definitelly SE SW is my favour.. thats why i left only that model... but YMMV.

You are right about the price! The base price of knife is way too high for what the knife design is. I also would call attention to the pivot screws, I have two examples of the gen 2 knife, there is absolutely no consistency for the height that those pivot screws land on for tightening. I have one that rides high above the chamfer and I have one that rides low into chamfer. Very simple to check this just ride your thumb over the screw it should be level with the titanium even with patterns. The lock bar cut line looks likes it was changed from gen 1 to gen 2 from wire edm to cnc small end mill. Again aesthetically looks worse than the gen 1, this takes less time meaning cheaper cost but faster manufacture. Onto the positives, honesty when I got both knives I was gonna return them. However I found myself addicted to the actions simplicity. Some hate the pocket clip, I really like it, grabs forcefully and makes a nice pop when removing from the pocket(important because if your knife snags you should hear it and you can stop to find the knife). I also like that non knife people struggle to find the angle to open it with the thumb push. It’s actually easier the reverse flick. It rides well in the pocket and very much disappears and doesn’t look like a 500 dollar knife. I don’t have any ill will toward McNees,in fact I have the McBee as well, I trust McNees to put out a cool product that might not be perfect but will deliver the experience I am looking for in other subtle ways. Excited to see the next model they produce.

If someone had offered me the Hawk OTF and this Microtech OTF, without any prior knowledge of Hawk knives, I’d pick the Microtech without hesitation. It looks significantly better, offers nearly the same features (except for the titanium chassis), and comes at a fraction of the price of the Hawk OTF.

New isn’t always better sometimes it’s just new.

I know the zero blade play doesn’t add any functionality but it makes it feel much higher quality. I had an axial that had the normal amount of OTF blade play and it felt like a cheap toy. It’s just nice to see a company put effort in.
