This was helpful. But I'm that new guy who doesn't know what to look at other than wind. I'm starting to find that other factors such as the sun angle and cloud cover come into play when trying to figure optimal riding conditions. (For visual purposes) It'd be awesome to hear more about what other weather data points you use to gauge your day, even if it's just for the bay area.

@BayFoilsАй бұрын
@@user-hf3gz5oi5d nice! The 1300 is definitely the standard of what everyone orders. But the 1500 is great for beginners, just depending on your weight height and riding style. Feel free to reach out to us at [email protected] and we can set you up with the right combination and no sales tax!

great channel! I’m about to get a Fliteboard and I’m debating between the pro carbon and ultra L2. I don’t have much foiling experience but I have excessive experience and pro skills with Jetsurf and any other type of boarding. I’m usually riding on a lake, flat water. 6ft, 190lb. Would you recommend me going with UL2 or stick with the PRO? Wondering how quick I might get bored of the PRO
@BayFoilsАй бұрын
Awesome! I think you'd be great on an ultra L2, it's so light and amazing. I'd also recommend you get the performance efoil rather than the flat surface foils. The MN 1300 C, Wave 1000 C and Wave 850 C are amazing wings that are only available on the conical mounts. Let me know if you have any questions email [email protected] and we can save you some money with the black holiday sale and some sales tax if you're out of state. :-)
@olegpachkovets2174Ай бұрын
That’s helpful, thanks! IIs there a big difference between the 80cm Alu and 82cm carbon performance efoil? The weight difference is about 2lb. Wondering if the difference is even noticeable. Carbon seems to be out of stock (only wave is avaialbel). I’m riding on flat water with sometimes many wake boats around. And, is the UL2 so much better than the PRO?
@BayFoilsАй бұрын
@ yes for sure! Conical wings are the way to go in the future. The energy savings alone is worth it. I’m 175lb and what I used to be able to cruise on an explorer battery I can able to do that on a sport battery.

NEVER use 3rd party screws unless you know the pitch and material of the Fliteboard screws. If you get the thread pitch wrong, it’s a recipe for stripping the threads! And if you get the wrong coating of screw, it can rust and seize! Just buy spare screws from Fliteboard.
@BayFoils2 ай бұрын
The specification for the threading and mm length are in the user manual. They are M6 x"__"mm 316 stainless (marine grade) which are readily availible most hardware store especially boat shops. The screws also do not need special coating as you are supposed to clean and reapply tefgel periodically to avoid seizing.
@Fluterra2 ай бұрын
@@BayFoils What you have written is not the Thread Pitch! M6 X __ mm is the size, nothing to do with the gaps and height of the threads! This can strip your screw holes if it doesn’t match the original screws. Every screw I have seen at Home Depot is a cheap zinc plated screw, nothing marine grade. I would not risk it - just order the screws from Fliteboard directly.
@BayFoils2 ай бұрын
Don't get them from home depot then go to a marine part store or shop online at mcmaster-carr this is the exact bolt you can buy in bulk www.mcmaster.com/product/93395A360. Standard thread pitch for M6 bolts is 1mm and they're usually labeled when they use different spacing. I've bought numerous m6 screw from various vendors and I've never locked a bolt.

is the ultra much more challenging than the pro model which is 67 litre
@levithewizard2 ай бұрын
There are alot of factors to consider like your experience and body type. If you're brand new to foiling you'll definitely struggle more on the Ultra vs a pro it will suck all the fun out of it. Also consider your body and athletics a shorter lighter person will have a easier time on a smaller board as will a more athletic person compared to someone with mobility issues. Alex and I are both very experienced I'm about 4 inches shorter and 20lb lighter than alex which allows me to get up and ride at a slower speed despite the fact we're both pro riders.

Hi, I’m 220lbs, currently riding an ultra with cruiserjet 1500, Flow1300S and Flow 1100. I can’t go unpowered on swell with the 1500 and Nano, do you think the L2 alone would help ? Or should I consider another wing, like cruiserjet 1800, or try the MN mast with a MN1300, or ? Thanks !
@BayFoils2 ай бұрын
Yes a UL2 and carbon mast will help. Yes a bigger wing will make it easier. But remember gear will not replace skill/experience and the ultimately the wave you're trying ride is what matters the most. If you're trying to surf really small and slow you're going to have a bad time compared to trying to ride a faster cleaner wave. I'm like 210 with my wetsuit and all my gear and can ride an AIR pro with a flow s 1300 unpowered easy, so it can be done but I also have alot of surf experience and we have good downwind waves out here in CA. I would reccommend sending an email to [email protected] with more information like where your located, what type of condition your going out in, how long your been riding and we can help you out more!

That's the fun part, you don't! Lol just like boats or jetskis they don't have breaks you when you're learning it's really important to have alot of space to avoid crashing in to something. The experienced rider can let off the trigger and coast to a standstill and dismount with out falling but in general just jumping off the board is the safest way to avoid getting hit

@@sh5465 high powered electric vehicles (EVs) are not cheap. Neither are marine products. It's all good #1 rule of being a youtuber "dont take comments personally". Its just unfortunate the efoil industry has such strong brand tribalism. If you sell a brand and talk your opinions about another brand your not "Unbiased" and a "corporate shill" that triggers people. Which is funny becuase I've never claimed to be unbiased I've always said "I sell fliteboard and these are my opinions as an efoiler with 800 hours logged and who works in the industry." Ultimately it just hampers our ability as creators to call out shortcomings of the broader efoil industry.
@Mecknificent3 ай бұрын
@@BayFoils I had noticed that. It really makes comparison shopping very difficult.
@levithewizard3 ай бұрын
@@Mecknificent Very true always research the content creator to see what their experiences and brand loyalty is and take what they say with a grain of salt. Alot efoiling is personal preference base on your ride style and goals the best thing you can do is take a couple lessons and try each brand that is available in your area before making a purchase. Spending some money on lessons/demos can save you alot of heartache and buyers regret in the long run

Efoils are really it's own thing. On a windsurfer, snowboard, or Onewheel I'm a natural regular foot rider. At sixty-three years of age it took me around five hours before I could stand up on my Air Pro. I had to learn to ride my efoil goofy footed, I think it's because I have a controller in my right hand and for some reason my right foot is quicker than my left. This was only a month ago so the process is still fresh in my mind.
@BayFoils3 ай бұрын
It real is unlike anything else. We tell people previous watersports doesn't really help since it's all different body mechanics. What helps alot of people standing up is putting your controller in your front foot hand so your back foot hand is free to hold on to the handles while standing for 3 point of contact (handle, back knee, front foot)
