I did everything to get rid of POS and make the thermometer work and couldn't -I changed the batteries -I opened the device and cleaned 2 large square contact point in the circuit board. One of these squares is badly tarnished. I tried to clean it with a proper electrical contact cleaner but nothing came off! - I then cleaned it with bicarbonate of soda made into a paste with distilled water but that also didn't work! If I could get rid of that tarnish, there is a chance that it might work but how and with what? I'll be grateful for any ideas you might have 🙏🏻

Mine is IRT 6500 and pressing on different parts of it didn't work. Inspired by the comment by @krzysiekp2679 I opened up the device (see kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6uaq2OefbuqgsU) and found that it works while putting pressure on the nozzle side of the circuit board under the temperature button. So I put a folded piece of thick paper on that part and closed the case. It's working now.

You do know you're supposed to insert the thermometer first and THEN press the button to start measuring?
@MrOhnospam2 жыл бұрын
I think "POS" stands for 'piece of sh-t'!!! The thermometer has lots of unnecessary parts that need to be precision fitted. Battery contacts on one part of the casing need to mate with those on the other half. Switches need to fit precisely inside their mountings. The sensors have little mounting brackets they need to slot inside. Any abuse such as dropping, or letting the batteries get weak and leak acid and build up moisture and corrosion, and your precision device does not work as designed. Left in the bottom of the nappy bag with dirty nappies, used as playthings by dribbling toddlers, regularly washed with loads of hand sanitiser (hint: drink the stuff rather than wash your hands with it - far better for you) and in the bottom of handbags are nor conductive to long life. Always remove batteries before starting any type of disassembly or repair. Wash your hands to remove any grease or corrosive sweat. When you have finished, wash your hands again in case you were exposed to lead from the internal solder joints.. Carefully pull apart (a cheap phone repair set should have the correct screwdriver and spudger/blade parts to do the job), spray down with very small amount of switch contact cleaner to remove corrosion and moisture, blow this fluid out (don't use your mouth as the spit will just make the problem come back quickly) and clean the contacts where the metal parts should be touching with a clean cloth and make sure any parts (such as switches and sensors) that need to fit inside their mounting holes are actually a tight fit, and then reassemble fixes most problems. If you have success, a job well done. If not, rest assured you have an expensive device that was over-engineered for the job it was required to do. Give it back to the kids, minus the batteries, for them to play doctors and nurses. Current technology to replicate this in-ear temperature measurement functionality can be manufactured for about $3 in parts and labour - the rest is pure profit. While they CAN be built far more robust by a few minor design changes, if carefully looked after, they *should* last a long time. Braun has kept on a winner, where you buy the device once (for a overpriced amount based on the name and reputation), but have to keep buying the ear covers as an ongoing source of income - a great rort. It is uneconomical to commercially repair, and if the above doesn't fix it, don't bother. Look for a contactless device from another manufacturer that is cheaper and doesn't need replacement ear covers. Good luck!

there are two area (golden) on the mainboard for battery connection. i think golden area is damaged. if you can little move the battery connection metal (left,right,up or down) you will fix it. a lot of people recomend to press the body. probably if you press the body, battery connection metal move to up.
