4 is objectively better gameplay, 3 had the better story. 5 had the most unique setting in the franchise that you seldom see in FPS games plus the best custom level editor which could have been an entirely seperate game in and of itself, 2 has it's fans who prefered it's more grounded approach etc. All have their strengths and weaknesses.
