Its really quite incredible when you think about the demands and time commitment of the part, and also where she was in her personal life at the time, even flying around the country to do conventions or press on weekends. Its just such a remarkable story. No hired driver. Just astonishing.

I read the whole thing, almost 800 pages. Somewhere in here there could have been a pretty good 400 page novel, with some editing. There are truly rapturous visionary passages. And there are also plenty of over-written redundantly woke politico-mystical diatribes.

Adam Rapp's YA novels are some of my favorites. I read a lot (I'm a librarian) but those stories felt like something so new, so unlike anything I'd read before. Real and raw are words I've used over and over to describe them. I picked up this book and fell in love with his storytelling again. Fear (the man in the laundromat), sadness (Denny, Myra, Joan, Fiona) disgust (Alec) and hope sort of sum up my reading experience. Beautiful writing. Thank you.

I am just over 2/3 of the way through this book. I love the story and how it follows the family throughout their history and how we get the story from different characters' perspectives. What I am disappointed in is that the book's description that has been realeased on amazon gives away a major part of the plot that is not told until way later in the book. What should have been a big reveal was unfortunately anticipated because of the book description the publisher gave.

This book explained everything I did t know or misunderstood. I listened to the Audible version and the voice of the author was so kind, compassionate, and convicted in their knowledge of the topic. I feel very at peace and grateful for the opportunity to start HRT 2 years post menopause. Almost unbelievably, my sleep is beginning to improve one week in. Read this book. Every woman needs this book. Yes, EVERY woman.

There are sweet references to Mozart's starling in the novel 'The Morning Gift,' written by Eva Ibbotson. I recommend the book, which is a lovely romance set in Vienna and Great Britain at the start of WWII.
