It would be great to compile our stories. Many years ago I had the desire to return to "Rock Castle" and write about my mother's memories (Class of 1938) and my experiences (Class of 1965). The modes of transportation to Saint Francis and Saint Emma, the huge echoing Broad Street Station in Richmond, all come to life. My mother & her schoolmates rode a ferry on the James River to reach "Rock Castle." Sister Anthony Daniels taught my mother and me. My graduation became a school reunion, so to speak. How about the "ghost" stories, field day competitions, football games, socials, musical events, parades, artistry, scholarship, school charges, and yes, the tragedies too. Let's breathe life into Saint Francis de Sales and Saint Emma's Military Academy! Question: Do you remember our school song(s)?

I was fortunate enough to have been coming up in the late fifties and early sixties when life was simple and joyful, and Belmead was blooming, what a memory

Some films are so excellent, I buy the book or screenplay to understand the unspoken thoughts that contributed to the decisionmaking process. Thanks for posting.

Oh my God I feel so bad I did not even realize that this was based on a book. I'm going to have to find it and go buy it and read it because I absolutely love the movie and I've seen about three different documentaries on these three women. And also the documentary John Glenn

Just watched this on U.K. first showing I believe. I saw in the cinema on its release and today still teared up at the end and felt euphoric at the same time. A detail I missed at the cinemas was Mrs Vaughan's Fortran knowledge which i yelled at seeing as I too studied this at college. I was unable to gain a job in I.T. for 2 years after college due to it being 'a mans world' and being told I had lack of experience. I went on to work successfully in many other industries but never I.T., sad but true.

Read the book! Read the book! If you thought that the movie was righteous, then the book will absolutely blow your mind. The book is much more detailed than the movie, as is to be expected, and is lucidly and even elegantly written. Congratulations to Margot Lee Shetterly. You can get the book online or at your local public library.

It I'd fictionalized. White Women and Black men were also there. In fact Dr. Walter McAfee a black man was the first to calculate the velocity of the Moon , but he is omitted. Good to hear stories of when black women actually achieved but they were not the only ones
