DC, unless I'm mistaken, Walmart here in IllinoiZ don't even sell ammo no more. As far as ammo overall, it's stacked high and deep everywhere right now. It's still way too overpriced IMO. Everything firearms related is in huge oversupply right now. First time ever during an election year I've seen this.

Are 2 1/2 inch .410 shotshells impossible to find in your area also? Seems like our wal mart hates selling ammo ..so they deliberately stock stuff Nobody wants. Lots of 28 ga .. Nobody uses 28 ga around here except for maybe a few antiques only the worst 12 ga. And no handgun ammo

You should have at least a year's worth of ammo on hand. How much is a year? How much do you shoot each month? If you go to the range and shoot 100 rounds once a month then you need a minimum of 1,200 rounds of ammo on hand. Shoot more then you should have more. The last shortage took 2 years for prices to be reasonable with a year of that being high prices and frequent out of stock on certain brands.

I usually pick up 500-2000 rounds a month to replenish what I blow through at the range.

Hey DC, ammo is available! Tuesday, after I heard the dock workers went on strike, I ordered online two cases of Ferderal 115 grain 9mm for .28 cents a round to add to my stock and it arrived today Saturday! Stack it high and keep it dry!!

To find ammo you need to put boots on the ground. Period!!

One question, did the ammo prices go up like crazy in the US like they did here in Germany during and after "Corona"? Most ammo went up by 70% especially the handgun calibers. Even hand loading components went up insanely.

Ammoseek is a great resource to find whatever caliber, brand, grain weight or price you're looking for online. Brick and mortar shops typically are going to be considerably more expensive or won't have a good selection to chose from. Don't cheap out on no name ammo unless it's just for range use or fun only. Even then, there's a much higher chance a catastrophic failure with some brand you've never heard of will happen over a well known brand that has its reputation to uphold. If you do choose to shop at brick and mortar stores, they do run sales which are comparable to online pricing. The local Shooters World had Fiocci 115 grain 50 count boxes on sale for $12 a box which is what I can buy it online for. You can save on the shipping costs at least as shipping explosives is expensive. It's not cost effective to buy 2 boxes of ammo online. It's really only for 100-10,000 round purchases if you're thinking about bottom line price.

Hey, DC. One thing I have done since I got my first gun was buy ammo. If you have a gun, you will always need ammo. I buy 2 to 4 boxes for every caliber I have a month. Sometimes more. So I would always have. I told others, but they ran out. Good information. Keep it up.

Nice to see you again. DCA the ammo! Federal Gold Match 308 Winchester with the 175g SMK bullet is running close to $2 a round! Winchester M118 Service Grade with the same bullet is a bit cheaper, but still over a dollar a bang. I don't know if I should get some hunting loads or not. I've never hunted. But I hear that a good jacketed soft point in 308 is good for just about any game in North America. Bears are listed as the potential exception. My platform is an AR-10, so it has to fit in and feed from an SR-25 magazine. As far as 223, 9mm, and 38 Spl I'm sorted.
