When this show first started in 1955, it was in black and white, and was actually done twice each morning (once for the live east coast feed, and again for the live west coast feed). Apparently they didn't make use of videotape at that time. And I read where they actually had 90 seconds between both broadcasts. Quite a job! But I was a part of the generation of kids that saw the original broadcasts. It's so nice that the Captain stayed on the air for so many years, and had such a positive affect on so many children everywhere.

I remember she visited our school in the 80’s in Nashville! I was so starstruck! Oh, how I loved this show!

I can see why this was omitted from the DVD version and featured as a deleted scene. This was absolutely pointless and had nothing to do with the story.

I noticed several comments about the fact that people seem to be more concerned about the animal abuse in this movie as opposed to the child abuse. While all abuse is horrific and unacceptable, God created some of us with a passion for animals and some of us with a passion for children. Either way, God created us EXACTLY as he wanted us to be. What disturbs me is that many people are so quick to judge.
