They are not exactly like a Ranger of that year. The Mazda has beefier spindles and bearings in the front axle. The sheet metal will not fit one to the other same as the front bumper. However, the entire drive train is Ford. I had one and drove it to 325,000 miles with no problems other than the transmission. When I went to replace it, they asked me if I wanted a Ford or Mazda transmission and I asked what is the difference and they said about 10% and the transmissions were exactly the same. 96 was a great year for this pickup. I have regretted getting ride of mine in 2004.

Have same truck Laramie only 110 thousand miles with stock wheels. Passed a semi going uphill on Interstate 40 today no problem pulling my 39 foot 5th wheel. God help you if you need a major repair but these trucks rock.
