why not put the hanger in before the riser board? That way the hanger will function as intended and you wont have nails taking the weight entirely. seems daft to me.

Kinda messed up that top hole a bit and now it doesnt line up right... might want to just use a straight edge and measure i instead of the little nail trick that obviously doesnt work...
