Print run of 59 is absolutely crazy lol. Surely Topps Now brand operated at a loss that year! Three points to build on what you spoke about: 1. Breakers with the gambling aspect as well as the low cost entry point has really fueled interest and participation in the hobby, for better or for worse. 2. I think the manufacturers and breakers are happy with a high rate of customer churn which in the long run will be damaging. 3. The breadth in the number of sets year on year i find concerning when you also factor in the depth of parallels now and the inflated print runs. Parallels were numbered up to /399 in Topps Chrome this year! Great vid as always, thanks!

I have to agree and I’m excited that you noticed how well these cards present them selves. It’s more like artwork. Only top players at the highlight of their careers. The award winners are top tier players and rare especially parallels. The future stars sets are currently stars and very limited parallels. The lighting Strike set are the best of the best players and very limited parallels. One auto per box. Card Design is the best I have ever seen in my life. Card Value is still the best I have ever seen. Only top, top talent in this small set of only 99 players. What really took me by surprise is how the refractors images jump out or bursts out in a very stylish way. The good thing is there are still some for sale on eBay. Thank you for commenting on these cards. These may be the most classic looking cards with the greatest players I have ever seen. I still see them as the best bargain on any soccer cards today. I have to agree with your review except for pricing. Good catch.

It's sad that there wasnt continuity of Premier Gold during what was arguably his later peak years ~2008-10. Game cards just dont sit right to me 😢 great video as always, thank you!

Yeah definitely a shame. At least Gerrard has those Topps Authentic cards from 2010 and 2011. Would love it if Lampard had ones. I like the game cards though it that era. Probably because I collected them at the time. Obviously prefer non-game cards though.

I think it benefits from no Sapphire version of the set as well. The pure or true colour parallels only is a really big plus as you say and to me, much more appealing than the "first topps chrome set" point that most people lead with when they talk about this set.

When I started collecting I bought a mix of playing days and new modern cards of my favorite legends. After learning more, seeing the avalanche of modern legends cards and watching your content, I focus much more on playing days cards and have found it much more enjoyable, the hunting and research makes the score much more fun!

100% agree mate. There are some great looking legend cards out there now for sure. But Topps/Panini will just keep releasing more of them as they sell the product. Making me appreciate playing days more.

Yeah haha, was a rough period from 2007-2012 for EPL sets just having Match Attax (apart from small Topps Authentics sets in 2011 and 2012). Panini not having an official Euro trading card set was depressing lol.

I think when considering rarity though for modern cards, an orange /25 rookie of Garnacho is nice but it isn’t really rare. Garnacho would be in like 10-15 releases on his rookie year , meaning there are actually 250-300 cards of his that are /25 lol.

Something ive learnt from you is the appreciation for "playing days" cards. I always enjoyed seeing the older pre-modern cards in terms of what I would have loved to have collected at the time growing up. With more and more legend cards coming out year-on-year for the same players you can see the effects of oversaturation on modern card prices. I always used to question why people focused on vintage baseball but its a similar case with pre-modern football cards where supply is quite low and even more so with cards in near perfect condition. I think youre ahead of the curve with this philosophy. Im really curious what the state of play will be like for the current market and generation with the same time gap as pre-modern in the future! Great to hear I have helped mate. Its hard to know if the importance of playing days cards will catch on. I hope so. Will mean more collectors get involved in premodern. As you say, only a few cards of a player per year and condition sensitive over time. Im pretty sure people will slowly become bored of modern sets. Hopefully they venture into premodern rather than leave the hobby all together.

Hey, Beckhams rookie is from the Merlin 96 set (see photo on thumbnail). Value can vary quite a bit based on condition. Sharp corners and surface looks good then might be worth grading which increases value. Could try auctioning it so buyers can judge condition for themselves on photos. Either way, great sticker to have.

My guy finding a card of London Donovan that is worth 800 dollars PSA 10, and he just put as value 5 dollars! London Donovan in US soccer is like Michael Jordan in basketball! That card there ungraded is between 100-400 dollars depending on the condition! It’s a very rare card. The most expensive card is Ronaldo, Donovan, Zidane, Totti, Henry, Roberto Carlos

@@retrosoccercards, the last card sold (PSA 10 was 425$ on ebay) pretty high in value. I cannot see the condition of your raw card but I’m pretty sure it’s worth minimum 50 dollars if can be in the future a PSA 10. I already have that card, I pulled it yesterday and I will upload the video soon on my channel. I have got a Ronaldo also, lucky you getting 2 Ronaldo , hopefully at least one can be a PSA 10, the last sold was about 800$

Great video - I’m personally a sucker for the first four Panini Foot stickers and those early UNFP releases. Not easy to track down in high grade and beautiful old school designs.
