You communists need to remove the fee at the bulgers hollow boat ramp. All you did was dump a load of gravel. You can take that gravel and stuff it. Communists.
@gobigrey93522 жыл бұрын
You communists need to stay away from our river. You dumped a load of gravel at the Bulgers Hollow boat ramp and slapped a sign making people pay to use it. Nobody is using it. They had their annual fishing tournament which is always a big deal, there were two trucks in the parking lot this year. Nobody can afford your shit and the old guys that use this ramp don't have smart phones. Go home communists. Go get a real job.

Wow! That's something I'd like to see, locks and dam working. I've seen a smaller one for barges one wide. I don't like that, it scares the fish away. On the big river it seems to attract fish though, especially wing dams and the backwaters. I hope to see more of it, lots to see along it's shore's.

Thank you so much for giving water to those who need it and now we are asking for water for our beautiful lake Mead and Powell. Remove dam impoundments starting at pool 26 and work north. Hire river rats and naturalists to clean garbage from river. We do it now for free. Remove railroads on both sides of river so there's no more pollution and derailment problems. Remove barges and department of commerce from equation. Hire biologists not wardens. This river used to be full of communities, commercial fishermen, gardeners, river rats and so much more but due to poor policies and leadership we are in a dire situation. The river has filled up with sediment and now flooding is more intense. The dams changed the composition and abundance of plants. The government agencies failed. Good luck

If you reconstructed the lock walls then why did you not add floating mooring bits to it
@USACERockIsland3 жыл бұрын
The 10’ (maximum) lift at LaGrange was considered to too low to include floating mooring bits into the new construction. Lines are managed from the top of the wall.

@@USACERockIsland is there a lift height specifics for floating mooring bits? Dashields has a 10 ft lift and they have floaters on the Ohio

What is the point of one tainter gate?
@USACERockIsland3 жыл бұрын
The single 84-foot Tainter gate at Peoria Lock and Dam is only a portion of the 570-foot dam used to maintain the 9-foot navigation channel on the Illinois Waterway. The other 432 feet is made up of 108 wicket gates which can be folded down into the river, when water levels permit, to allow for "open pass" navigation around the lock. The Tainter gate is used to control the river's flow when the wickets are raised and allows the Corps to maintain the 9-foot channel when water levels drop.
@rivercap19863 жыл бұрын
But how much of the river flow are you adjusting with it, because with a couple feet couldn't the wickets just be decided to be raised or lowered?
@Bob.W.3 жыл бұрын
Why didn't they show it being lowered in the lock? Coud be going through a garden gate, lol.

What about whirlpools, how dangerous to navigation are they?
@timothyboone50033 жыл бұрын
In the modern world of motorized vessels and a system of locks and dams, whirlpools are more a creature of myths and legend. Eddy walls still exist and can have hazardous effects upon commercial navigation. Today in the modern world lockage during high water conditions would probably rank the highest/greatest danger to safe navigation of the Mississippi River.

Do you have underwater welding footage? I think the people need to see that.
@USACERockIsland3 жыл бұрын
The view underwater in the Illinois River does not allow for underwater welding footage as it is extremely murky and lot of the work is done by feel.
