So rare to see english country dancing, thanks for the post

1am in the morning, IKEA shelfes with CD:s and vinyls, an open fiddle case in the background, some beer and a good musician. That's the same sort of the reality I'm living in. Love it.

Oh the lollipop man has a great big stick, And he only charges a penny a lick, And he gets it out whenever he can, He’s a dirty old bugger is the lollipop man! The lyrics I learnt as a morris dancer!

Hi, I really want to learn these tunes, are your boxes D/G? It would be easier to learn by playing along, do you play out sometimes? Helen 🪗😎

Yup, I'm definitely learning this. What's the box's reeds? It sounds great!
@Wotsitorlabart2 жыл бұрын
'May Reel' was actually written by the late much lamented Paul Sartin and his fiddle version (with Paul Hutchinson on piano accordion) can be found on the 'Belshazzar's Feast' album 'Drop the Reed'.

Thank you for the info , and I’ll update the description to reflect this. I (and Jimbo) learnt it from my good friend Saul Rose when he was playing it in Faustus around 2006/2008 ( it’s on their first cut album) and Paul was a great friend too.
@Wotsitorlabart2 жыл бұрын
@@DerekTheNutter Yes, I noticed after posting that other videos name check Faustus as being the source of the tune. I will now check out their version which I imagine was the inspiration for the many melodeon versions on KZbin. Cheers.

what are the two songs?
@DerekTheNutter2 жыл бұрын
The 2 tunes learnt from the playing of Saul Rose, first tune is a variant of “go enlist for a sailor” and the second tune Knifes Edge again from the playing of Saul , the tunes are used in Chiltern 100’s Morris dance called “Shevington Moor” and you can hear us playing it for the dance side in this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/bqrMnJKBnZV-lbs , Saul Rose was one of the initial musicians from the side who we learnt from.
