she’s referencing an interview for the Wicked movie where the interviewer told the actresses that people online were “holding space with the lyrics of defying gravity.” it’s funny because nobody understands what the interviewer meant, haha!

For me personally I loved part of the protagonist character flaws, how her ignorance and tunnel vision affected her choices. at least she was consistent. but I also hated it in some ways, I hated how she put herself in needlessly dangerous situations, I hated how she was a therapist with a degree but her boundaries were soft and sometimes she came off as a doormat to the people around her without a voice or agency. the only time I did see her standing for her thoughts and opinions was when she finally went crazy in front of the suspected party and police. overall I loved the twist I loved how it show cases that we can be ignorant in situations and go on witch hunts. but I also thought some of the character flaws were unintentional and just showed poor writing. the overall story though and the way the author writes is beautiful and I would read it again and purchase a hard copy

I am not a fan of unreliable narrators, but I did like the twist in the story, and agree with you that it shows how we can be ignorant!

Dan'u'talas, aka atlantis was the golden city rules by the gods, humans were there slaves and food most the time, but ahbraham the mage was a man they all reaspected and feared, he wrote the codex that Nicholas uses. All the old gods want the power of the codex.

I just love how you somehow can see the connection between this book and The silent patient, like they are from the same universe. Mentioning Theo at the end of The maidens, who is the protagonist of The silent patient, was an amazing twist as well. I first read The silent patient, then this book, so I loved this sudden connection between the two of them.

I have a question (no judgment, just curiosity): why do you continue to read Ali Hazelwood’s books if you know that you’ll have a problem with them? Do you mean you like them but they're flawed or you don't like them but keep reading them? I've seen a lot of people say similarly that they read all her books but complain after each one. Again, I ask, not from a place of judgment, but out of curiosity.
@libraryofparthos74114 ай бұрын
As a fan of romance in general, I did like the romance aspects of all of her books. I think I continued to pick them up in the hopes that each one would be different than the last, and felt disappointed when it wasn't. However, I did hear someone on a podcast talk about formulaic books, and once I realized that her books followed a formula because that was a creative choice, I found that I could enjoy them a lot more. I'm not someone who typically continues to read an author if I find that the books are too similar, but I have definitely gained a new perspective. That's why I would consider myself a "reluctant fan."

It was the first book i read in english. The whole mystery comes with two situation of both grief and loss. Mariana realised the fact what she loves being cheated and the culprit was hidden beside of her ultimates the end. The climax got the idea of what a childhood behavior influences to a person whether who best or worst. The whole story contains Greek mythology and little diary hints which makes more thrilling.
