Is the museum where you parked permanently closed? It was a weekend when I was there. Voler is my favorite cycling clothing. I'll have to look at Pactimo.
@shawnbikesАй бұрын
Voler is really good too! I have a pair of bibs by them that's lasted for 10 years! I'm not sure if it's permanently closed. You might have to call ahead to get a tour. A lot of local museums are like that around here.

Recently visited Arkansas and saw a ton of them. Do they typically fly into you while biking?

I never had an issue with them flying into me!

My favorite game to play on the tunnel Hill Trail is the stick or snake game. I have no problem with E-bikes whatsoever. There’s a lot of people that are enjoying cycling that couldn’t do it without the E bikes. I have a problem with Trail hogs the ones that refused to move over and share the trail with anybody.
@shawnbikesАй бұрын
I won't move over if I'm in my lane. If they hit me, then I guess we're going to wreck. I did it once and the guy looked at me like I was in the wrong. But I've had issues with maybe 1 out of 100 e-bikers I've encountered, most are doing it the right way.

Electronic shifting is great for accurate shifts everytime. Not needed, as mechanic shifting works well too when you are used to it. Having both, on road , gravel, MTB ...I like both. Love electonic for racing, and mechanic for leisure to "feel'' the shift happen. Both have their merits. But electronic shifting won't help your riding (you mentioned you had not done the research). It'll make you a stronger rider if you enjoy your bike more because of it, and ride more. Some people like to diss them because they do make the bike more techno obsolete more rapidly. For example, you can't get a new derailleur to work with your 2010 Shimano 10 speed (80% sure of that), as they are 2 or 3 gens ahead. SImilar with Sram. But you can use a 2024 mechanic shifter with your 2007 10 speed derailleur and vice versa. And yeah....beautiful snake!
@shawnbikesАй бұрын
So far, I do like the e-shift feature. I did let the battery run down but luckily I was in a gear that was compatible for my whole ride. I guess I've experienced single speed haha

I think the snakes in South Austin, where I mostly ride, learn to not hang out on the bike paths! I see one every once in a while, but not very often. Lots of Road Runners though!

Kind of tiny turnout this year because of the rain, but it was one of my best rides of 2024. Almost got a 20mph average riding with Thomas Gee.

Rode this trail on Nov 28th, the leaves on the trail can be problem as they hide the roots of the trees. I did 18 miles from service road 140 North to the welcome station. Last time I went I went on the paved portion like you show in the video. I was expecting that, not realizing the actual trail wraps around the ridges going from the lake all the way up. It ended up being the most challenging part of the trail. Overall it was a great day though : )

I'm not sure what brand he uses, but DKLEIN has some awesome footage with a mouth bite mount. He obviously doesn't talk with it but it carries nice from what he says. He has a whole episode on how he films. He is from Portland Oregon. Great channel.

Exercise is good for the soul. Especially when its in the great outdoors. As far as branding goes, a famous KZbinr Sean Emery (Shug) has videos on hammock how-to's, hiking, juggling & unicycle stuff, BBQ, playing the mandolin, silly character acting, and control line airplane flying. He keeps it all in different threads on his channel, but its all Shug. I'll probably do the same someday when I figure out my channel more. I've already set aside a thread for cat song parodies if I ever get brave enough to record some of them for silly fun. I think you're on the right track as far as making a brand for yourself with a few threads on different things that interest you. It attracts a wider audience and changes things up a bit. Hopefully see you on the trail again sometime. (GC Trillium trail) :)

Emotional stress and lack of sleep can mess up my insides. An acid dump from the stomach causes discomfort in the bowels later on. Gaviscon (magnesium based) is my go-to over Tums (calcium based) as it doesn't promote additional stomach acid production. For diarrhea, I usually do a one-two whammy with a chewable pepto and an immodium. I've been getting more gastrointestinal discomfort during the pandemic due to other folks stressing me out. Overexertion in the summer heat can cause it too. Hope it helps. Meditation breathing helps too. Good luck and hopefully see you on the trail again. 🤢 sometime.
