I have this issue with my flashlight. The batteries went flat after a few days, i started leaving the back screwed off so the switch cannot make contact with the battery pack, still dies. I think the battery pack has some short, though i haven't put a meter on it. I am just going to save my time and pitch it.

The fumes from galvanized tin are toxic. The zinc coating can vaporize when exposed to high temperatures resulting in the release of zinc oxide fumes.

The beauty of Mora knives is that they are very inexpensive, so beating them up is less bothersome. Kind of like having a beater set of bench chisels. Plus, Mora's manufacturing is in Sweden, so you are supporting Western manufacturing.

These magnesium firestarters work great and start plenty of fires for $1.50 each . I have been using for years and keep one in each of my fire kits .
@thomasmusso11475 ай бұрын
👍👍👍 I have one of those Magnesium Bars .. a 'Coleman' Brand which I bought (if I recall correctly) back in the 80's / late70's (?). It seems to be of a better quality than those on sale today. The Magnesium is quite soft, I get a good amount of shavings with each stroke and a decent-sized flame when ignited. I use a piece of good quality hacksaw blade salvaged off my work bench as the scraper / striker (I cannot recall if it was supplied with a striker and if so, than long gone). You are 100% correct .. it will not have the desired effect unless one's tinder preparation is up to standard. The secret is to scape a decent amount of shavings (a little pile) and then mix it in with some tinder. I do not see this fire starter as something for everyday use, but rather for when conditions are not optimum and one needs all of the help that one can get. It sits in a 'just in case of' pouch with other 'just in cases of' .. there for 'just in case of' 😊. Incidentally, my adjacent forest (and those in the surrounding countryside .. Switzerland) does not have Pine Trees. I have some Fatwood harvested elsewhere years back and I hoard it for use only for a 'just in case' 😁. Thanks for sharing .. take care ..

i think you wanted to say 'doan' instead of coleman. doan is said to be the best, unfortunately, they're out of business. people say it's softer than the others. chinese knockoffs are just plain bad.

I have had 2 XL50's as well. Neither of them had parasitic drain, however, because I cant seem to get mine to stay on, sometimes it's in the on position but not illuminating and it is causing the battery to drain. Technically not parasitic, but still possibly the culprit. My issues have been that they are cheap. Take the battery compartment out and the lens and LED jiggle. Put it all together and it doesn't, but you have to constantly tap the flashlight in order to get it to turn on. Reminds me of the garbage Eveready flashlights of the 70s. This is why so many adventurers died in horror movies. It wasn't bad batteries...it was bad flashlights!

Needs a threading awl/reamer and needs a file. I don't know why multitool manufacturers don't just put file surfaces on both sides of the saw. I use a Clip&carry kydex sheath for mine or you can use a camo pistol mag pouch for that tactical look. I add a paracord lanyard to mine. This multitool is very similar to the Ganzo one. I have a Leatherman Rebar & the Gerber MP600. I use the Suspension at work more often than not because it's a beater/no hassle loaner out type....it's a great multitool....

@EDC_Tactical Жыл бұрын
This would be a poor choice for use on most handguns If you want something for most modern pistols, you’d be looking for a milled slide and an optic such as an RMR If you’re using it for something like larger revolver with a pic rail, it could technically be done
@unrestedtank4172 Жыл бұрын
So for a rifle set up for hunting, is this a good secondary optic? (45 degree mounted)

I always carry a rambler in my watch pocket, as well as a Tinker deluxe, the Tinker mainly because of the small pliers i use for making jewelry and the rambler for the small screwdriver. I have a classic sd on my keys i got from my grandfather and have a Huntsman that i got from my other grandfather which i keep in my toolbox. I also have a victorinox florist, which i use in the kitchen to prepare vegetables.

I got the newer Beckers I took the finish off with paint remover, and I gun blued them so that the finishes smoother and if it ever wears off, it literally just takes seconds to put a new finish on it. That way the knife stays protected from rust.

I recommend having a dedicated ferro rod striker insted of using your knife, alot of ferro rods come with a striker, there is no need to modify your knife, unless your just making youtube videos to look cool :) but my philosophy is a very practical one, i dont baton with my knives either because thats just for survival "simulation" KZbin videos imo, not practical in everyday bushcraft tasks. Get a small hatchet if you want to split wood, knives are not made to baton wood with because the edge of a knife is too fine and it will create micro fractures over time, believe it or not but knives have harmonics like a tuning fork, all medal does, so every time you hit it and baton with it it sends Shockwaves through the blade and can break overtime, just like taking a piece of wire and bending it back and forth until it breads, when you baton with your knife, the Shockwaves will create micro fractures and your knife will fail at some point, the objective is making your knife last as long as possible. In real world survival situations batoning is not necessary, using your knife to strike a ferro rod is not necessary, again your philosophy should be making your knife last you as long as possible, any knife expert will tell you the same thing, all that stuff is just for KZbin but not real world situations.

I got one of these years ago to use as a rope tobacco knife. Mine came w the olive wood scales and a leather wrapped lanyard (which does help w gripping the knife). Forget what I paid for it but wasn’t much. It’s solid and tho had limited functionality it’s a great little knife. Might even consider getting a life’s holster for it to replace the little leather one it came in.

All alkaline batteries will leak allways. Stop using alkaline. Use only NiMH and you will never have a leak anymore. There is some chemistry incompatibility with aluminum, alkalines and the tail cap spring. That happens with all brands of flashlight but since people had more Maglites in the past, that problem happened seemingly allways with Maglite. Use NiMH. I bet the runtime of these are just 30 minutes.

Is the reticle dot black when set on "0"?
@grip2421 Жыл бұрын
No. Just red illumination on levels > 0
@christophertate6453 Жыл бұрын
@@grip2421 Ok, Thx's. I ordere a 1x Prism Red Dot sight by Athlon. It has a Black Reticle when set on "0". I hunt deer a close range, like 50yds inwards with it & strickly in daylight hours. So, I don't need the illumination. I could have just went with a scope, but didn't need the magnification. So, the Prism's Reticle is etched in the glass & shows up Black, just like lookjng thru a scope. It's the best of both worlds; Black Reticle for daylight & Illumination for low light conditions. Again, Thx's for the Reply!!! Deer Man Out
