Here today, with the price of dog food being three dollars a can for these so-called healthy stuff. I buy 25 pound sacks of rice at Sam’s, which lasts me about a year or more at times. Just to have. I cook up a pot of rice, and I will use it in my soups in place of noodles, and I mix it with half of the portion of dog food. We usually give our 20 pound dog, mixed with an equal amount of cooked rice. He loves it. Especially if I do a little trick like adding pulled apart chicken when I buy a rotisserie chicken at the local grocery store, I even save a cup of the water from boiling hotdogs, and I will put about 2 tablespoons of that water that I save in a cup in the fridge, mixed with his dog, food, mixed with rice, and he eats it so fast, I wonder if he even tasted it..

Xylitol is in most peanut butter also.

My dog loves asparagus but slightly cooked light brown, put on the BQ and when ready cut 1/2 inch small bits and just the smallest bit of olive oil. Cumbers are another treat these items are occasionally given. Maybe once a month I try to alternate her veggie. Carrots have lots of of sugar so they are out in house for her.

What about pineapple roots? I'm renting a small house from a fruit farmer. The front yard was filled with pineapple plants that we had to remove to make the yard accessible for my dogs. But now they keep digging up the roots and chewing on them.

There seems to be an error when your discussing Kale. Kale is actually low in calcium oxalates, 2mg/cup serving. It's the lowest of the leafy greens. Spinach on the other hand is high in oxalates, 755mg/HALF cup cooked, source (Harvard Medical School).

*Oh no I fed my dog milk. This was in the 90’s and she was pregnant at the time, so my dad said that we should feed her milk for nutrition. She had healthy babies and passed away 2010. I wish we knew all this in the 90’s back when she was alive.* 😢

I give my Mali a 1/8 of a cup of rolled oats for breakfast and dinner, with 1/8 cup of rice and a 1/8 cup of Dinovite, and a sprinkle of cheese mixed with kibble. She has good stools, the softest fur, and not a lot of gas. Her energy is really good and her anxiety is down and she sleeps thru the night.
