Wow only just come across this. My first job when I left school was working in a model shop in North London called Michaels Models. One of my weekly tasks was to test run all the Mills .75, because we used to despatch them all over world. Any that did not work were returned to the manufacturer. A popular little engine for the free flight enthusiasts as I remember. This was 50 years ago.

That's amazing, this one is probably one of them . What would have been the cause for not working then ?

@@Adventurewanted If memory serves there were only two reasons a Mills wouldnt work. Fuel starvation or lack of compression. Occasionally I would have to tighten the compression screw so far it would fowl the piston. The boss used to say " If it doesnt start with five flicks return it" In those days the tolerances were not very tight, but if you got a runner they were a great little engine for the money, and dont ask me how much they were coz the memory aint that good. LOL

I have a short kit for the Tom Boy. What covering material did you use please? Solartex is a bit to heavy I think but want something vintage and not shiney. Will be electric not ic sorry. I like the quietness. Have a thing for Vic Smeed models including his boats and yachts of which I have a few.

Very nice. I have two of them and they both run great. I have one a scaled down to 60" Lanzo Bomber. What are you using for a coil in your video? Appears to be an outomotive coil for a single plug ignition.
@Adventurewanted
@Adventurewanted 2 жыл бұрын
Oh good,that's right ,the coil is from a small motorcycle,a bit heavy to fly.
@jimkraft9445
@jimkraft9445 2 жыл бұрын
Thank you for that. I wondered what it was. I see you have a lot of motorcycles on your site. I have had many over the years. I am 81 years old and started riding on a friends Whizzer Pacemaker motor bike when I was 8. Bought my first Harley, a 1942 "45" flat head when I was 14 back in 1955. My current ride is a 99 Harley Softail Custom. No long rides anymore, but get out most days for a ride on the back roads around where I live. Enjoyed your video. I have quite a collection of old ignition engines. Ohlssons, Super Cyclones, Atwood Super Champions, Forster 29 early ball bearing rear intake, Anderson Spitfires, Orwick 64, And several others. I flew R/C Pattern competition for 24 years. Then started flying Old Time stunt control line. That is where I started collecting sparkers. Enough of my rambling. Thanks for the info on the coil and the great video.
