Given the problems at the start - always possible when you havea big field starting on a bend (unlike the 1500) would it not be an idea to start the mile in two groups like they do with 3000 and 5000 when the fields are quite big? Surely not beyond the wit of man to ensure that all runners cover the same distance round the first bend?
@adam_fogg6 күн бұрын
Yeah agreed and think for this race it probably should have been split. I could be wrong but for some reason I don’t think they ever split it in the outdoor mile. Definitely would help avoid this kind of situation

For a long time I've been thinking you should move up to the 5K. For the 1500m it's pretty common for the top runners to out sprint you at the end, but whenever you do 5K's or 10K's you always do surprising well. I think your talent in running is your endurace and in the 5k or even 10K you could surprised the world someday.

Personally I’d not step up to 5k for a good while yet . I’d focus on lowering your 1500m/mile time. You’ve got to be aiming for 3:30 -3:32.
@adam_fogg6 күн бұрын
Yeah the 1500 is definitely still the main focus but am excited at the thought of moving up in future

@@adam_fogg just seen GM run in the heat of the 1500m . In your position I’d not be amused, yes he finished ahead of you in the trials but clearly is a better 5k runner

I remember one of your last 5k back in 2021. Pretty impressive couple of days - if I remember correctly you won the 1500 5000 and the 10,000 all in the same meet. When you move up in distance, you WILL succeed for sure.

To the future olympian, (I am French), and I am so happy for you. Even if you are not in Paris you will be an olympian anyway. Your last 300 m were honorable this time because people always take over and I was terrified this would happen again. I hope your 5k went well.
@markbateman9222Ай бұрын
I am very surprised that the selectors have allowed Mills to double in Paris. He isn't that good at either distance that he can be considered a certainty for a medal in either race. I reckon his medal chances are better at 5000 - championship 5000s tend to be relatively slow and Mills' mile sped wi;ll come in useful. Lacks finishing speed at the close of a 1500 to be a serious contender in that race .(Also think Giles should have been selected at 800 instead of Wightman). Some strange selections!
@thevillagekid5116Ай бұрын
All good!

Proud of you!! Big Fan!! Thanks for keeping the into 🔥
@fabi8731Ай бұрын
I think its awful that Mills decided to be stubborn and try to attempt the double in Paris. Realistically, if you're not Jakob or Hasan, you shouldn't be trying to double and blocking the spot of a person who deserved the place on the team just as much. And federations must have a say in this but instead, they choose to influence the team in other ways, which is much more detrimental
@jamesroberts6370Ай бұрын
Like everyone wouldn’t do exactly the same thing given the opportunity ? It’s competitive sport not a charity case.
@fabi8731Ай бұрын
@@jamesroberts6370 every sane person would, cuz they know that the schedule is brutal and chances for me falling are higher if you’re focussing on one event instead of multiple events
@jamesroberts6370Ай бұрын
@@fabi8731 doesn’t work like that , most of these athletes have a mentality of being able to win every race they enter that’s why their elite in the first place . The olympics is the pinnacle and you have no guarantees that it won’t be your last one, so of course they want to race multiple events if given the chance.
@jimoconnor859729 күн бұрын
Agree. Miles isn't a medal contender in either, even if he concentrated on just one event. Going to double in both events is quite selfish. I get that athletes get one chance at the Olympics probably. So why not go and try to finish as high as you can in your best event rather than look bad in 2????

Good luck. It's a blessing and a curse to be good at your event in Athletics right when other guys in your nation are also good. To think we only took 2 guys to Rio 2016 in the 1500m, and this year we had at least 5-7 guys capable of making the olympic final. You'll get your chance!
