A great presentation. I was shocked to see myself on a carnival float as Captain Birdseye. I think it was 1971.

Her name was Alwen, but was generally known as Lal. My dad who kept the Mitre from 63 to 65 was known as Cappy. He then took over the Castle from '65 through to '74. My mum knew Goronwy from years back and he used to flirt like crazy!! I still remember the cobblers he had near the Maes.

Hi Mike...I've just stumbled upon this video. I knew Cappy very well from my Butlin's days where he was my boss in Catering Stores at Pwllheli centre . Is he still alive? If so my name is Jim Lee and I would very much like to contact him once again. He gave me time off when my wife had our first child in June 1979. I was living in Chwilog then. I left the catering team and moved to Accommodation work at Pwllheli where I was trainee Accommodation Manager then asked to take career move to Butlins', Minehead, Somerset where I now reside. I thoroughly enjoyed me time at Pwllheli from 1968 to 1982 when I left. Please excuse the length of text but I was so surprised to see this video....Jim Lee

Hi Jim. Hope you're well, I definately remember your name mentioned a few times :) . Unfortunately Cappy died in 1999 following a number of strokes. His eye sight failed in his mid/late 60's with macular degeneration but he kept talking about the good old days at Butlins Pwllheli. There are a few Butlins Pwllheli videos on youtube from the 50's through to the 80's. Best regards, Mike
