@andersand65768 күн бұрын
Fascinating! Math is wonderful! Had I designed the original game i would have made Sauron roll d10 or d12. Think having the chance of not being able to wound a character like Sauron would give some interesting tactical choices, where you are forced to sacrifice weaker units to keep him at bay until you can get your stronger units in position to take a shot at him.

See how the Fellowship does vs Durins Bane. When Gandalf said "This foe is beyond any of you" about the Balrog ... Was he right? I think Aragorn Legolas, Gimli and Boromir could take the Balrog. Bonus round for figuring out just how blessed Gandalf was to win the 1v1 after the two fell.

How much do you aprox. calculate for having a full working MP system of one kind of game (being LOTR, Warhammer and so), besides the art (like models, terrains and so)?
@OmiDigi12 күн бұрын
I have the framework ready for a gameplay loop of creating characters, creating levels, creating stories, playing those stories. Now its just a case of seeing how much i would want to add. If people are interested, then i will make a swtich and personalise the rules and create my own art to use in it instead. So its both ready and no where near ready haha

haha ill tone it down if i do someting similar again, thanks. Hard to keep motivation sometimes, what made you stop doing play throughs of games?
@NewtonPlays12 күн бұрын
As someone with adhd, I completely understand the waning motivation. Just know that you're on to something awesome here. You've clearly put a lot of time and effort in to it. And it's time to be rewarded and applauded for your efforts. If on a day you can't think of a whole video to create. Do a short. A joke, a funny system interaction / bug in the game, a cool moment, snippets of adding features, hell just show the dice roll mechanic and what if scenarios. Keep the consistency and you'll see the channel and project grow 😊 In regards to me, my PC at the time was awful, so I couldn't record content that was worth watching. I am however in the mood to do something again (maybe not let's plays, maybe hobby stuff, or mesbg based video games 😉), perhaps this message will be the thing I need to start again 😁

Thanks a lot, that's really good advice. I will keep it in my mind as I progress. I love the game development side of this but I won't lie the editing isn't my strong suit and I'm not efficient at it so if anything drags me down it'll be that. I hope you do! You were playing the exact kinds of games I like to watch. If I ever release a game I'll get you to play it haha I'll be the first to watch it if you do, your support has helped me a lot so far.

For more natural looking fields consider adding a noise-based offset to the spawn positions. You can sample any noise you want in a similar way as you'd do in a shader and add it to the x (?) position of your spawn position before projecting onto the ground. If the computational overhead gets out of hand, add it retroactively as a single call.

Nice video. I enjoyed your explanation through the process of scanning, cleaning and rigging the mini. I was wondering if this was possible and you showcase it very well. So, I know you mention you won't do it, but just from the theoretical point of view: Once you have a model rigged in A or T pose, it should be possible to go to mixamo and get some free animations up and running quickly, am I right? It won't be perfect since the model is not that smooth but from a "tabletop" view distance it should kind of work. What do you think? Regards and good luck with the development, it's progressing nicely
@OmiDigiАй бұрын
You're absolutely right, theoretically it should be possible I haven't tried yet because I'm forcing models into those T/A pose and misalignment will.not track correctly in a t-pose animation. But why not try, you've convinced me to try! Haha

Awesome to see how this is coming along, a few things that could definitely spice up the gameplay is adding in spear supporting, and - to start with - allowing the player to spend might on adding to their dice rolls - a major part of both Aragorn and Boromirs statlines

Thanks for the comment, it's nice to hear positive things, it motivates me to keep going. I have spear supporting and might coded in already, I'm trying to introduce things slowly so that if nothing else comes out of this someone might still benefit from learning the rules.

Amazing! A passionate of Warhammer and Game Development here. You did a fantastic work here. It seems pretty solid architecture which potentially can serve as template for any skirmish miniature game. Units can be the next level so you can reach other famous tabletop games. Nevertheless this is already outstanding. By the way, you have demonstrated how fuck it was this map for Aragorn without advanced rules such Power Modifiers or Destiny rolls xD GW wanted you win with your new minis and not with the paperhammer xD P.S.: Have you consider some minis animations? Not rigging, just turning the mini like you did playing it making a slash. A good reference is Moonbreaker.

Thanks a lot! What kind of game development? And i know! i dont know how they thought that was a fair skirmish for magazine 1, RIP to the kids enjoyment who chose to play as aragorn in 2002. Just as a word of... warning? Yes its a hobby project, but if you make ad revenue theres a good chance their lawyers will still come after you. Claiming you're using their IP. It's not fair or even technically correct, but they'll do it because they're bastards. Change the theme / skins and people will still love it for being the same game. Plus game dev videos and projects as cool as this will build up their own communities fast :) All the best with it, I really hope it does well. Very well done. Subbed :)
