Awesome video and beautiful scenary. Is Croatia a good place and affordable to do the PPL (in English)? im newbie, why is the airspeed not zero when you^re on the ground?
@hrvatski_pilot3 ай бұрын
I did my ppl in Croatia and I would do it again. Complex airspace, combination of mountain and flatlands, nice scenery, nice weather. With the right flight school, I had overall a very good and affordable experience.
@hrvatski_pilot3 ай бұрын
Airspeed is not zero, because a pitot tube is blocked with cover and outside pressure changed. Since airspeed senses the pressure difference between one in pitot tube and static pressure, hence the reading on the ground is not zero.
@KenLeonard4 ай бұрын
No need to turn prop so much. Turn until you feel compression and hold pressure until it bleeds thru. Then go to next cyl compression stroke. Keep doing this until oil tank burps. It is the piston blow by that pressurizes the case and pushes the oil out of case and too tank. I did it your way until I went to the Lockwood rotax school.

Why does it say that the range is about 1600 kms on Google ? What do you think if i fly it from Barcelona to Oran (Algeria) ?
@CharlieLimaAviation6 ай бұрын
Started my training on the DA20 and also did my first solo on that type (but it had 140HP). Later I’ve switched to the Aquila A211, which is by far more up to date and very comfortable. Still I think the Katana is easier to fly and a very calm plane.
@hrvatski_pilot6 ай бұрын
I assume the 140hp version was a DA40 probably?
@CharlieLimaAviation6 ай бұрын
@@hrvatski_pilot no the DA40 is a fourseater
@CharlieLimaAviation6 ай бұрын
It had 100Hp, not 140. the Aquila has 140. I was wrong.

I never flew one, but as you've mentioned there's quite many of them in Europe. I like the slick design and admire Diamond's safety characteristics in general. What I've seen, however, is that they do well on well kept runways, but don't like soft fields. Laminar airfoli and small engine require to keep the nose gear on the ground for longer, during the run, than you'd expect from old Cessna, so I recall it was much easier to get a prop strike on wet and bumpy surface in DA-20. BTW. Fore challenging conditions yak-12, Wilga or An-2, if you have big familly, are still not matched 😉

Definitely not 😃 That would be quite difficult. Seats are uncomfortable, limited range, never seen long range tanks for DA20.

This one is definitely more roomier, should be no problem even for a tall person

I remember when the Europa XS first came out about 30+ years ago. I always loved the Europa but when the glider version was produced I wanted one. I remember seeing advertisements for both kits here in the US in Kitplanes Magazine.

How big is lift to drag ratio?🧐
@hrvatski_pilot9 ай бұрын
To be honest, I never seen L/D published for DA20. But Flight Manual has an information about Glide Ratio: > Glide Ratio 14, which means at 1000 ft/305m above ground, and with no wind the distance of glide is 2.5 NM (4.3 km) With wing aspect ratio of 10, DA20 definitely has a glider roots.

It always bugs me that some places charge for passenger and aircraft handling even if you fly in solo and self navigate round the airfield and park yourself.
@colibri492 Жыл бұрын
If this marvellously designed aircraft is well looked after, as I have done for decades, you will seldom need any replacement parts and if you do, some items like cables, plugs and hinges can be obtained from other sources. Only accidental damaged to the structure might dictate complete replacement of a large component, but fibreglass is very repairable and inexpensive if you have the skill and knowledge to do it yourself.

It's got an engine taken from a LADA GT? What IS the engine? Usually that's the first thing to mention regarding aircraft, or the second. I don't see or hear what the engine is and that music makes it impossible to get further into the video. Nice looking Europa, at first glance. A variety of engines are recommended and used for this plane - Subaru with a GRU, Rotax, dunno what else. Prop? Is that an MT? Sorry if all of this is in the video but I just didn't have enough patience. Good luck selling it.

Really good job on this video! I am a Europa XS mono wheel owner and I love it for all it's unique features and capabilities, but with any homebuilt aircraft the question is always how good is this one? Each are unique reflecting decisions of the builder and his workmanship. As for the risk of the swift group losing interest well it's a business and all aircraft companies are at risk, look even Van's is in trouble and they are the most successful of all kit plane companies. It shouldn't affect the owner so much though parts can be built or sourced from many locations.

I had no idea the Europa was still around! I remember a mono-wheel aircraft with a wing designed by the engineer who designed an Airbus wing, one of the most advanced in the industry. Yes, Ivan Shaw designer.
@dwaynemcallister7231 Жыл бұрын
Don Dykins was the engineer for the aerodynamics' head of the design team for the Airbus wing. He came to Europa after retirement. Structural engineering by Barry Mellors from Slingsby Aviation, Europa even used a Slingsby pilot for evaluating the aerobatic potential ( Pete Clark ). It is a special aircraft.
@hrvatski_pilot Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the details! Don Dykins has left several documents about the design of Europa's airframe and wing. They are available on the club's web site www.theeuropaclub.org/the-europa/design-and-development-don-dykins-

#flight4kids
