Many thanks for these uploads. They bing back memories since I was in the audience. They first toured Japan as a quartet (Harper, Cowell, Workman, Hart) in 1983 and returned with Henderson and Fortune three years later. They were a collective but as I recall Hart was the nominal leader. Each lineup released one album. BTW the correct title of this tune is, "Is It Not True, Simply Because You Cannot Believe It?"

This song was written to honor Jitu Weusi one of the mainstays of the great The East, Afro- Centric school, cultural arts center and live music place in Brookly, New York in late sixties, early 70's. I was so blessed to endlessly see all the greats there, including Pharoah, Archie Shepp, McCoy Tyner, Gary Bartz, Carlos garnett, Betty Carter, Joe Henderson, Cecil Taylor, Sun Ra and so many, many more.

Ich sah Voices live im Frankfurter Jazzkeller so um 1978 rum. Eines meiner ersten Jazzkonzerte. Wow, absolut beeindruckend! Das Zusammenspiel der beiden Saxophonisten hat mich umgehauen!
Hey I think this is not Kazucko, it’s a rendition of a Coltrane tune.

If one wants to immerse oneself in the cultur😂e and emotions of the art culture of the 1950’s and the early 1960’ of the Black Communities, the great scribe of that period is Dexter. Dexter and Miles define that Blackness through their style and physical presence. When you listen intently, you can visualize the elegance of Black Women, the definition of male style presentation; the transference of the dominant power creating how America is viewed around the ❤world. Trane once said that he plays the way he plays because he could not play like Dexter. Much respect!!!!

IMO David Murray is very overrated player,I've caught him live and on records since the early 80's. His Paul Gonsalves tribute concert in Boston years ago was a joke. His abililites certainly don't merit him having one of the largest recorded outputs of any Jazz artist of the last couple of decades. A media darling early on when over-hyping new young saxophonists as the 2nd coming of Trane was commonplace. As a player he is not even close a Gary Thomas, Branford, Potter. When the critics would place a Chico Freeman or Murray above a Brecker in the Down Beat polls I'd just sit back and say WHAT!!!

Murray is by no means in the tradition of Trane, more of an alternative. Only in a few recordings does he show that he has format
