I want soccer to be number 1 in the country. I still can't believe why football/soccer is not as popular as it is worlwide. 2026 will be a turning point for soccer in usa. I am sure that more people will tune soccer and watch soccer and I think at least 150 million americans will engage with the world cup. USL will exceed 1 million viewers for sure by 2026. BRO , I ALSO WANT SOCCER TO BE NUMBER 1 BECAUSE IT IS THE BEST SPORT A PERSON COULD EVER WATCH. Thank you again for caring about soccer. We want more people like you.

Here from Puerto Rico! The rumors are true! The only thing is that we the puertorricans don’t know what team Benito and Yadiel are going to invest in. You have Metropolitan, Bayamon FC, Catala FC, Fraicomar and others. Soccer is very big in Puerto Rico since the early 2000 and rn the talent is better than ever. I will love to see this happen

What immediately came to my mind is the fact that they would probably start playing in the Caribbean Cup (and/or Shield) which means that, long term, you could legitimately have a USL Championship team playing in the CONCACAF Champions Cup. If Cavalier and Robinhood can qualify, there's no doubt in my mind that a Puerto Rican team backed by American dollars can do it which is pretty exciting in my opinion

I would love to see this happen. The cost for RIFC to fly to PHX is more expensive than to SJU...I think the brunt is on the home team...and BB has deep pockets and you're right, jersey and merch sales will be sky high. This could work...

besides its attempts to modify some rules so the cup matches are more offensive like, its an idea i really want to see in action! And if it brings the US to a promotion-relegation system, the better. greetings from a greek fan of USL

I don't understand the sporting scene in America. It seems that you prefer to create artificial rivalries rather than allow them to evolve organically. in most countries, such a local rivalry would be embraced and even nurtured. How do you think small clubs like Leyton Orient, Brentford, Millwall and Fulham have survived and even prospered with the likes of Chelsea, Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham right on their doorsteps??

I worked for a USL clubs front office and can’t imagine that being a justifiable reason to be honest. My only guess is that they want content from the other pro clubs so they can plan theirs accordingly, but his account gets sent to their algorithm too much or something of that nature? Like it’s just a weird thing to do from a pro club especially when it’s mostly positive about league and at worst brutally honest

It's mostly to show they are welcome. If you don't like it, ignore it. They don't feel welcome at American football, UFC, or maybe hockey. Historically, English football hooligans would be homophonic and still some sets of supporters. But now it's more welcoming in general. More fans means a more viable team. I don't want anyone to not feel welcome at games.

Surely if there is promotion and relegation it would be the Bottom 2 clubs of each conference then the champion of The USL league goes up to MLS with the 2nd placed club. The MLS relegated club's would gain parachute payments also with the USL club's receiving solidarity payments.

I don’t know if Springfield will last. I had that same feeling when Northern Colorado Hailstorm came in. I didn’t see a long run. I always hope they try to get to states that don’t have any major professional team in any of the big 4 sports. We got Boise (Idaho) looking to come in after problems happened when a deal fell through that would’ve built a baseball stadium for the independent baseball team Boise Hawks & soccer stadium for the USL expansion clubs, Iowa (Des Moines) are having difficulty getting theirs, Arkansas is coming in with Ozark United. I prefer that over trying to add teams to states that have a club or 2 already cause not every state can have a in state rivalry.

Growth is exciting and should always be the ultimate aim. What concerns me, however, is the absence of disciplined structure. USL want the Championship to represent its top flight, happy to concede the overall federation top tier to MLS. That is a decent, immediate term aim - especially given that that is already the case. Problem: the league is already too large by 4 clubs, and is due to increase by more than fifty percent in the next few years. According to my math, there will be 37 USL-C teams, assuming no current club folds or drops. The next league down, USL 1, had twelve, dropped two, and added four. There are furthermore ten NISA clubs, and two independent MLS Next Pro clubs, bringing us to 26 total independent third division teams. That makes 63 fully independent, professional teams stuffed into two tiers across four leagues. This is insanity, and must be addressed. With this number of clubs, the aim should be four divisions, each with 15-16 teams, with all leagues playing a proper, balanced, home/away schedule of fixtures. The next question is, how do we determine which clubs go where? Ideally, it would be merit-based. I have ideas how to do it, but they probably wouldn't be popular with owners. Realistically, certain criteria must be satisfied. I suggest we begin small. If your home pitch has hash marks and yard markers on it, lies in a minor league baseball stadium, or shares time with a local high school lacrosse team, no higher than third division shall you ever rise. As for USL 2, perhaps it's time to revisit its purpose. To this point, that league is effectively the equivalent of Summer League baseball for college players. I've got no objections, save one. Draw distinctions between those clubs whose ownership groups wish to retain that purpose, and those who aspire to full professional status. The latter could be the equivalent of the English National League or the DFB's Regionalligen. Let future new clubs start there. I'm obviously aware that my ideas won't be taken seriously by anyone who matters. After all, I'm just some schmuck on the Internet. But adding clubs simply to add them, without any consideration for how they'll be organized, and how their addition will impact the overall product.... That's just stupid - and doomed to fail.

Also it would be great to see a video about all the new USL League 2 teams. There’s going to be a team called FC Bigfoot!

I don't think the USL is going to have a true explosion in value or long term stability for a large amount of clubs unless and until it establishes a first tier league in which all members meet the criteria for the first tier in the US. 15k seat stadium, 1 million metro, certain requirements for ownership group value and investment. I hope that it happens, partly for player development and partly because there's potential investors and partners out here that just can't hang with the billionaires in MLS. But they could really do something in USL. What I have in mind is the US version of the Canadian Premier League, but it's bigger and better. Probably more profitable too, and I suspect that the USL and CPL could have a healthy rivalry with one another. Even for a metro area like Springfield, Missouri, I think that could be an interesting development in the long term. It's the type of community that can never hope to have an MLS club under any circumstances, but if the metro area can grow to a million and get the investors in place, it could be a club that rises to the second tier, has some success, and then maybe gets up to the first tier. I would love it if these small to mid sized communities had a shot at getting there. Let's hope these current expansions go well, and keep an eye on any SSS build for USL that has a capacity of at least 15k. These are the building blocks of a more ambitious project.
